Democratic Arizona congressional candidate Ann Kirkpatrick said news outlets made “false reports” about her after she raised her hand to show “support for ICE agents without any increased oversight” at a debate on Thursday.
Kirkpatrick was booed for her stance on ICE at the debate featuring several candidates for Arizona’s second congressional district. She issued a statement on her official Facebook page on Monday that seems to go against what she stood for in Thursday’s debate.
“This morning, Fox News and other outlets put out false reports on my position on ICE without a single word from me,” Kirkpatrick said. “Here is where I stand. ICE needs top-to-bottom reform. Trump’s policies—especially around family separation—are illegal and should end immediately.” (RELATED: ‘Fox & Friends First’ Thought It Was Interviewing A Pro-ICE Dem, Got A Random Lib Instead)

The candidate served as the U.S. representative for Arizona’s first congressional district from 2013 to 2017. Kirkpatrick ran against Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2016 and lost, according to Ballotpedia.
