Yesterday the FBI raided the offices of longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen. Alan Dershowitz, a liberal lawyer, reacted to a federal raid by calling it a “dangerous day today for lawyer-client relations.”

Dershowitz said Mueller’s move is also dangerous because it gives the FBI the option of deciding what information seized from Cohen to pursue. “Cohen cooperated completely, and what did they get for it? A raid on the office with everything being taken. So this sends a powerful message that cooperation is not going to be rewarded by Mueller.”

Dershowitz said, “Look, this is a very dangerous day today for lawyer-client relations. I deal with clients all the time. I tell them on my word of honor that what you tell me is sacrosanct. And now they say, just based on probable cause, even though there was cooperation with Cohen, they can burst into the office, grab all the computers, and then give it to another FBI agent, and say, ‘You’re the firewall. We want you now to read all these confidential communications, tell us which ones we can get and which ones we can’t get.’ You know, if this were — the shoe were on the other foot, if this were Hillary Clinton being investigated, and they went into her lawyer’s office, the ACLU would be on every television station in America jumping up and down. The deafening silence of the ACLU and civil libertarians about the intrusion into the lawyer-client confidentiality is really appalling.”

Dershowitz recommended that Trump make a motion in court to take Cohen’s materials away from the FBI and make a judge decide what evidence can be used and which cannot. Dershowitz said separately to the Daily Beast that this kind of FBI raid is usually something reserved for “very serious criminals,” not lawyers like Cohen.

Trump tweeted something to that effect:

Dershowitz is 100% correct that the Mueller investigation has gone too far and needs to end. It’s time for President Trump to finally consider putting an end to this endless witchhunt.

Do you think Muller’s “Special Counsel” has officially turned into a witch hunt? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
