Al Sharpton Gets Heckled During Visit To Haitian Camp In Del Rio: ‘Get Out Of Here. You’re A Disgrace’

On Thursday, Rev. Al Sharpton was treated to a good bit of heckling by protesters during his trip to Del Rio, Texas near the illegal immigrant camp under the Del Rio International Bridge.

Sharpton was there to denounce the U.S. Border Patrol’s handling of Haitian illegal immigrants using a horse patrol unit.

Sharpton could hardly get a word in edgewise due to the heckling from people who didn’t want him there.

Protesters To Sharpton: ‘You’re A Racist. Nobody Wants You In Texas’

Sharpton said, “We went for an hour and toured the place that we feel is a real catastrophic and human disgrace as people around this world watch the Border Patrol use slave-like techniques — mounted on horses. It compelled us to come and show our voices and our presence.”

As Sharpton spoke, a few male protesters in the crowd tried to drown him out.

“How much money are you making?” the protesters yelled. “Why are you here advocating for violence? Del Rio is not a racist city. Del Rio is a loving, caring community.”

“We don’t want your racism in Texas,” a protester shouted. “Get out of here. You’re a disgrace. You’re a racist. Nobody wants you in Texas. Nobody wants you in Texas.”

Sharpton Vows To Keep Coming Back

Sharpton continued, “The Trump supporters and the right-wingers can scream all they want. We going continue to come back. We going to stand with our people to make sure that… treated in one way and one manner. And we intend to come back over and over again.”

“For people to be treated like this in an inhumane way, for people to feel that they can use weaponization of horses to treat human beings,” Sharpton added.

Sharpton said he would “keep coming back as long as is necessary.”

Protesters To Rev. Al: ‘You Are Wrong’

He then called for an investigation of the Border Patrol’s horse patrol unit.

“This is a loving community,” the protesters yelled. “Get out of Texas. Get out of Texas. You are wrong. You are wrong.”

“The Border Patrol are heroes,” the crowd added.
