Anti-Trump Representative Liz Cheney – who has now been officially removed from leadership – continued bashing former President Donald Trump in a House speech hours before the vote, and after her ouster.
Cheney, in a speech late Tuesday night, proved exactly why the need to oust her became apparent, focusing extensively on Trump and his supporters, rather than addressing party unity or shared conservative goals.
“I rise to discuss freedom and our constitutional duty to protect it,” she said in a moment indicating she views herself as a martyr for the anti-Trump cause.
“We have a threat America has never seen before,” she claimed. “A former president who provoked a violent attack on this Capitol in an effort to steal the election has resumed his aggressive effort to convince Americans that the election was stolen from him.”
She accused Trump of risking “inciting further violence.”
Cheney’s tunnel vision fails to take into account that Trump, prior to the Capitol protests in January, urged his supporters to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
Early Wednesday morning, the Wyoming Republican was officially removed from her position as House GOP conference chair. CNN reports that Cheney lost by voice vote with “no major drama.”
Sources did tell the network, however, that “a few people who made their presence known” as they “booed Cheney during her remarks” addressing the caucus.
President Trump released statements eviscerating Cheney both before and after the ouster vote.

Liz Cheney Attacked Trump AGAIN On Eve Of Ouster Vote
Liz Cheney (R-WY) also claimed Trump’s supporters were ignorant or blind to his lies.
“Millions of Americans have been misled by the former president,” she continued. “They have heard only his words, but not the truth, as he continues to undermine our democratic process, sewing seeds of doubt about whether democracy really works at all.”
Cheney appears to be auditioning for a role at either CNN or MSNBC, rather than acknowledging what led to this moment.

Many of those who called for Liz Cheney to be removed from leadership are the same ones who supported her when she faced a similar vote back in February.
Rather than move on from that effort though, she’s been accused of neglecting her duty to unite the party and instead focusing on Trump-bashing.
And there she was, yet again, proving them right.
“Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar,” Cheney railed.
“I will not participate in that. I will not sit back and watch in silence while others lead our party down a path that abandons the rule of law and joins the former president’s crusade to undermine our democracy.”
If you closed your eyes and imagined Rachel Maddow or Chris Cuomo making the same speech, you would hardly notice a difference.
IT’S (only) WEDNESDAY! One for the books on the Hill with the GOP set to oust @Liz_Cheney and set the stage for a possible face-off between her and former President Trump.

Republicans Reportedly Walked Out Before Her Speech
CNN reported that every Republican lawmaker with the exception of one walked out of the chamber prior to Liz Cheney’s speech.
“I just heard it in my ear that her colleagues, fellow lawmakers, Republican lawmakers, they cleared out of the chamber when she was speaking,” Anderson Cooper reported. “Only one remained to even listen to what she was saying.”
Ken Buck is the only lawmaker watching Liz Cheney speak on the House floor. The rest cleared out.

Senator Lindsey Graham earlier this week warned that the leadership vote involving Liz Cheney could be a sign of things to come for other anti-Trump lawmakers.
“The most popular Republican in America—it’s not Lindsey Graham, is not Liz Cheney, it’s Donald Trump,” he told Fox News personality, Sean Hannity.
“To try to erase Donald Trump from the Republican party is insane,” Graham added. “And the people who try to erase him are going to wind up getting erased.”

Trump issued a statement early Wednesday morning before the vote eviscerating Cheney.

“The Republicans in the House of Representatives have a great opportunity today to rid themselves of a poor leader, a major Democrat talking point, a warmonger, and a person with absolutely no personality or heart,” he wrote.
“As a representative of the Great State of Wyoming, Liz Cheney is bad for our Country and bad for herself,” added Trump.
“Almost everyone in the Republican Party, including 90% of Wyoming, looks forward to her ouster – and that includes me!”
Cheney, after losing the vote, continued her crusade against Trump.
“I will do everything I can to ensure that the former President never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office,” she threatened.

Donald Trump issued another statement following the vote, blasting Cheney as “a bitter, horrible human being.”
“I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party,” he added. “She has no personality or anything good having to do with politics or our Country.”
Trump jabbed, “I look forward to soon watching her as a paid contributor on CNN or MSDNC!”
