11-Year-Old Gives Up His Own Visit From Santa to Help Homeless Kids

Jaxson Turner of Plano, Texas is getting a lot of attention and for good reason – he’s giving up being visited by Santa Claus this Christmas so that his presents can go to those less fortunate. He’s even inspired his hometown to join him in his efforts.

“This year, my Christmas wish is to help others who are in need,” Turner says.

“Santa would always give me everything on my Christmas list,” Jaxson explained to KTVT-TV. But this Christmas, he says many of the homeless kids at Samaritan Inn in McKinney, Texas are “in need more than us, and their parents can’t afford to be able to have a Christmas, and I don’t want them to suffer.”

According to TheBlaze:

Thanks to Jaxson’s efforts, all 53 kids at the shelter will receive a toy donated by the Plano Police Department, and a pair of shoes from Famous Footwear. Jaxson is also scrambling to raise enough money to buy coats for all of the kids.

Not only is Jaxson working with the Plano Police Department and Famous Footwear, but he’s also started a GoFundMe page to help his efforts: “I know that Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, which we will do, but it never hurts to add some smiles to those who are homeless and less fortunate as we spread smiles & love.”

“God likes whenever you help each other, and I just want to make God proud,” Jaxson said. “The only thing I want is to be able to help and see the smiles on their faces, and that’s the best Christmas gift I can ever receive.”

Imagine understanding the true spirit of Christmas as much as this young man does at only 11-years-old.

If anyone deserves a visit from Santa this year, it’s Jaxson Turner – whether he’s expecting it or not.

As of this writing Jaxson has surpassed his $5,000 goal.
