Gingrich: Congress Must Summon Obama To Testify On Russia

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich made an eyebrow-raising prediction Tuesday that Congress will summon Barack Obama to testify about how he handled Russia’s attempted interference in the 2016 presidential election.

James Comey’s testimony will have nothing on this:

“The Congress is about to have to call Barack Obama in to testify under oath about when he knew about Russia meddling,” Mr. Gingrich said on “Fox and Friends.” “Absolutely, he’s got to come in and testify.”

Obama has received harsh criticism from both sides of the aisle for reportedly doing nothing about Russian meddling in the election despite being told about it in August 2016. Gingrich contends that Congress needs to get to the bottom of why Obama sat on the information:

“How can you be told the president of the U.S. knew last August the Russians were, in fact, involved in this and not ask him and ask him under oath? I mean, how can you be so irresponsible?” Mr. Gingrich said. “The House and Senate are going to have to call Obama in and say, ‘Who told you?’ ‘When did you have the meetings?’ ‘Who advised you?’ ‘Why did you not decide to do anything?’”

He said lawmakers also should ask Mr. Obama, “Why did you keep quiet for six months while everybody looked at the Russians and Trump when you, in fact, had this information last August?’”

“There is a big Russia story, and it is Barack Obama, not Donald Trump,” Gingrich said.

President Trump certainly agrees. On Monday, he tweeted that Obama “colluded or obstructed” the Russia investigation by not saying anything about the interference.

Meanwhile, liberals are going on a witch hunt to prove that Putin handed Trump the election. It’s almost guaranteed that, had Hillary Clinton won, the Russians’ attempted interference would be buried, never to see the light of day like so many other Clinton controversies. But the truth always comes to light; and the truth is there’s no evidence at all that Russia influenced the election.

What do you think of Newt Gingrich’s prediction? Do you agree that the media is focusing on the wrong person or do you think the Russian controversy is completely overblown? Share your thoughts below!
