Cory Booker Attacking Jeff Sessions, But He Praised Him Just Months Ago

Hypocrisy, thy name is Cory Booker.

Booker, once up for consideration as Hillary Clinton’s running mate, a man who sang to raise money for her campaign, and possible Democrat candidate in 2020, said he would testify against Donald Trump’s nominee for Attorney General, Jeff Sessions.

The New Jersey senator plans to bring Democrat obstruction to a whole new level by becoming the first sitting Senator to testify against another during a confirmation hearing for a cabinet post.

Why the unprecedented move? In a statement, Booker accused Sessions of having “deeply troubling” views, and a “concerning” record on civil rights and criminal justice reform.

“I do not take lightly the decision to testify against a Senate colleague,” Booker said. “But the immense powers of the attorney general combined with the deeply troubling views of this nominee is a call to conscience.”

But Booker’s views of Sessions civil rights work were anything but ‘concerning’ and ‘deeply troubling’ less than a year ago.

Just last February, Booker said he felt “blessed and honored to have partnered with Senator Sessions” in passing legislation that awarded that awarded 1965 voting rights marches foot soldiers with the Congressional Gold Medal.

Take a look …

Cory Booker and Jeff Sessions have worked in the Senate together for about three years; Booker was elected to his current Senate seat in October 2013 after previously serving as the mayor of Newark, New Jersey. In 2015, the two senators both introduced legislation to award the Congressional medal of honor to participants of the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, a watershed moment in American civil rights history.

“This was a truly pivotal event in the drive to achieve the right to vote for all Americans — a right which had systematically been denied,” Sessions said in 2015. “This action was historic and dealt a major blow to the deliberate discrimination that existed, producing a positive and lasting change for America. Those who stood tall for freedom on that fateful day deserve to be honored with the Congressional Gold Medal.”

At his confirmation hearing earlier today, Sessions issued a powerful statement affirming his commitment to stand up for freedom and equality for all.

SESSIONS: “I just want you to know that as a Southerner who actually saw discrimination and I have no doubt it existed in a systematic and powerful and negative way onto the people, great millions of people in the South, particularly of our country, I know that was wrong and I know we need to do better. We can never go back. I am totally committed to maintaining the freedom and equality that this country has to provide to every citizen and I will assure you that that’s how I will approach it.”

Booker’s concerns are based on the same reality in which his imaginary friends exist. In other words, they’re not real. He’s simply trying to score political points.
