Arkansas Legislator Proposes Bill Renaming Airport Honoring Clintons

It’s been a rough couple of months for Bill and Hillary Clinton. First, Hillary Clinton suffered one of the worst political defeats in American history, then the Clinton Foundation announced that its high-profile Clinton Global Initiative will close its doors and lay off staff, a sign that the political couple has lost its influence among liberals.

Well, things just got worse for the Clintons, and in their home state! An Arkansas legislator filed a bill Thursday morning proposing that the Clinton National Airport, officially the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport/Adams Field, should be renamed.

The author of the bill, Jason Rapert, argued for changing the airport’s name because “You have a president who was impeached for having an affair with an intern in the Oval Office and then disbarred.”

It’s about time!

From Fox News:

President Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives in 1998. The Senate acquitted him on the charges in 1999. The bill–which does not name the Clintons by name– would prohibit the “naming of public buildings, structures, airports, or facilities” after anyone living.

The legislation also calls for the ban of naming an airport after an elected official who served in the 10 years “preceding the construction” of the structure. Reuters reported that Rapert claimed that several people in Arkansas shared their feelings on the airport being named after the Clintons.

This Arkansas legislator makes a good point, given that Bill Clinton’s presidency ended in disgrace, it is inappropriate for Arkansas to honor him with an airport, or any public building.

Most Americans likely forgot that Bill Clinton was disbarred for lying under oath, and as such he and Hillary’s name should be removed from this Arkansas airport. His name should be removed from all public buildings, but this bill is a good start!

Do you agree that given the Clintons’ criminal past they should have their names removed from this Arkansas airport? Share your thoughts below!
