‘Will & Grace’ Star Calls for a Blacklist of Celebrities Who Support Trump

Responding to a Hollywood Reporter story about an upcoming Beverly Hills fundraiser for the President, Will & Grace star Eric McCormack is calling for a blacklist of Donald Trump supporters.

“Hey, @THR, kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx,” Eric McCormack tweeted on Friday.

The actor was immediately called out on social media over his call for a blacklisting.

A New Hollywood ‘Blacklist’?

Actor Isaiah Washington sent a message to Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey asking if McCormack’s tweet is acceptable.

“Hey @jack is this tweet openly threatening to “blacklist” American Citizens in Hollywood okay for the good of society? Just asking for a friend,” Washington said.

“How wonderfully fascist of you @EricMcCormack!” wrote actress Maeve Quinlan. “Yes, how dare anyone in a FREE COUNTRY actually be FREE to support someone that you don’t or have an opinion that differs from yours. Anyone that doesn’t get in line with your opinion should absolutely be blacklisted from work.”

Kristy Swanson, star of the 1992 movie “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” wrote, “Oh my goodness Mr. McCormack. I personally have never ever NOT worked with someone just because I had a difference with them politically. It’s absolutely heartbreaking that you would say something like this & then ask The Hollywood Reporter to get on board with you (so sad).”

Liberal McCarthyism

Lawyer Ron Coleman had a simple yet powerful reply.

McCormack’s anti-Trump attitude is nothing new. In 2016, the sitcom actor said he would only perform at Trump’s inauguration if he had “a lobotomy” and his “whole brain removed from my head.”

The Trump fundraiser is scheduled for September 17 and will not even be hosted by any celebrities. According to the Hollywood Reported, fulfilling those duties will be “Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, RNC co-chairman Tommy Hicks Jr., campaign manager Brad Parscale and Trump Victory finance chairman Todd Ricketts.”

The Fascist Left

Ron Coleman’s Joseph McCarthy meme is the most apropos. Beginning in 1947, the congressional “House Committee on Un-American Activities” led by Sen. McCarthy, bullied actors and other member of the Hollywood community over their political affiliations, believing they were associated with or inspired by communists.

It was the midst of the Cold War, and Washington politicians took it upon themselves to decide what opinions could and could not be expressed, which led to a blacklisting of many actors and others who worked in the movie industry.

Hollywood has long used this as an example of conservative forces behaving in a fascist manner and squashing freedom of speech.

Is it now okay for liberal Hollywood to act like fascists, so long as the target is this President? Is it now accepted that liberal actors can suppress the free speech of conservative actors, so long as it’s in the name of opposing Donald Trump?

Eric McCormack seems to think so.
