Tulsi Gabbard Says On Memorial Day: ‘Let Us Reject The Self-Serving Warmongers & Media Propagandists’

Former congresswoman and Iraq War veteran Tulsi Gabbard had a special Memorial Day message on Sunday, sounding remarkably like President Donald Trump.

The former Democrat presidential candidate tweeted, “On this Memorial Day weekend, as we reflect upon & honor those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, let us reject the self-serving warmongers & media propagandists who are now preparing the American ppl for more wars — from Asia/Pacific to Eastern Europe/Russia.”

Antiwar Gabbard’s Military Career

Gabbard is an Iraq War combat veteran who has been a consistently strong anti-war voice, both during her time in Congress and as a presidential candidate – famously sparring with hawks like current VP Kamala Harris.

Gabbard had volunteered for the deployment, and later graduated Officer Candidate School at the Alabama Military Academy

The Army Times reported on Gabbard’s military journey in October 2020.

Last year, Gabbard “left the Hawaii Army National Guard for a new assignment with a California-based Army Reserve unit.”

The Times reported, “Gabbard’s new part-time assignment as an Army Reserve civil affairs officer follows 17 years with the Hawaii National Guard, The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Sunday.”

“The Hawaii National Guard confirmed Gabbard, who holds the rank of major, made the switch in June, but the transfer to an out-of-state unit was not formally announced, even to the state’s National Guard personnel,” the outlet noted.

Gabbard was a ferocious antiwar candidate during her 2020 bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, often channeling the same views as Donald Trump.

Gabbard Called Hillary Clinton ‘Queen Of The Warmongers’

In October 2019, Gabbard blasted Hillary Clinton on social media as “queen of warmongers.”

“Great! Thank you  @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain,” Gabbard tweeted, continuing, “From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a …”

At the time, Clinton had thrown out the idea that Gabbard was a Russian mole or asset.

Gabbard continued her thought, “… concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and …”

“It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me,” Gabbard finished before begging Clinton to join the 2020 presidential election.

Recently, Trump sounded a very similar tone when addressing anti-Trump neoconservative Rep. Liz Cheney.

In early May, Trump said, “Heartwarming to read new polls on big-shot warmonger Liz Cheney of the great State of Wyoming.”

In 2016, Gabbard had met with Trump with an eye toward jobs in the Defense Department and State Department, though nothing came of it.

“President-elect Trump asked me to meet with him about our current policies regarding Syria, our fight against terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as other foreign policy challenges we face,” Gabbard said in a statement.

“I felt it important to take the opportunity to meet with the President-elect now before the drumbeats of war that neocons have been beating drag us into an escalation of the war to overthrow the Syrian government – a war which has already cost hundreds of thousands of lives and forced millions of refugees to flee their homes in search of safety for themselves and their families.”
