Fox News host Tucker Carlson, as all other major media networks were airing the first televised hearing of the House select committee investigating January 6, bragged that his network wasn’t engaging in the propaganda.

And if you ask me, he’s right to do so.

Carlson pointed out that it says quite a bit about the “ruling class” that with every major crisis currently ongoing in this nation “the rest of us are getting yet another lecture about January 6th tonight.”

“From our moral inferiors, no less,” he added.

Carlson argued that by comparison to such violent outbreaks as the BLM riots in the summer of 2020, the Capitol riot was “a forgettably minor outbreak.”

You can bet there are plenty of people who will have heart palpitations over that description of the riot.

Fox News Doesn’t Air January 6 Hearing

Tucker Carlson explained, rather succinctly mind you, why Fox News wasn’t airing the January 6 hearing live while others were breathlessly sharing it with their viewers.

“This is the only hour on an American news channel that won’t be covering their propaganda live,” Carlson said of the House select committee. “They are lying and we are not going to help them do it.”

Personalities at the other networks had spent time leading up to last night’s hearing criticizing Fox for not carrying the hearing live.

The other networks and their reporters, of course, don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to refusing to air ‘newsworthy’ events.

Major media outlets repeatedly refused to air events in which former President Trump asked for air time – briefings on the border wall, and other official addresses for example.

The Big Issues

Carlson noted that gas prices have doubled since the January 6 riot, drug overdoses in America have skyrocketed, the economy is careening off the tracks, and our nation is in a new Cold War with the potential for escalation.

All seemingly more newsworthy or hearing-worthy crises, in my view.

“Yet the other networks can’t be bothered to cover any of that tonight,” Carlson said. “Instead, they’ve interrupted their regularly scheduled programming to bring you yet another extended primetime harangue from Nancy Pelosi and Liz Cheney about Donald Trump and QAnon.”

“The whole thing is insulting,” he added. “In fact, it’s deranged and we’re not playing along.”

Listen to Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the chairman of the select committee, give the game away in comments to the media prior to the hearing.

“We want to paint a picture as clear as possible as to what occurred,” Thompson told reporters. “The public needs to know what to think.”

Telling people what to think is, exactly as Tucker Carlson described, propaganda.

Rather than engaging in the public lecture from Congress directed at Trump supporters, Carlson laid out some facts you weren’t going to hear on the primetime, made-for-TV special.

The Fox News host pointed out that the “only person who wound up shot to death” that day was unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.

He went on to point out that the media and Democrats have consistently spread misinformation about the deaths that were supposedly caused by the January 6 riot.

Just this week, CBS News reporter Robert Costa told his audience that the House select committee hearing “will take Americans back to January 6, when an estimated 2,000 rioters breached the Capitol building, causing the deaths of five police officers.”

“In fact, precisely zero police officers were killed by rioters on January 6, not five, none,” Carlson corrected. “Not a single one.”

The five officers referenced by Costa protected the Capitol during their service, but none were killed on January 6th.

The Fox News host also pointed out that the committee isn’t going to tell the American people “how many FBI agents and assets were in the crowd that day and what were they doing there.”

You may recall that the FBI was heavily involved in the case involving an alleged plot to kidnap Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

That case fell apart in April when two defendants were found not guilty, while charges against two others ended in a mistrial.

The New York Times described the results of the Whitmer kidnap case as “a major blow to the Justice Department, which during the Biden administration has made domestic terrorism one of its top priorities in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.”

Why did the case fall apart? According to the Times, lawyers for the defendants had successfully argued the “supposed plot” had been “conceived and nudged ahead by a network of FBI agents and informants.”

The Hill published a list of the “five most dramatic moments from the Jan. 6 hearing” following the charade. Topping that list were “Liz Cheney’s remarks.”

Liz. Cheney’s. Rem … zzzzz.

Oh, excuse me, I fell asleep for a brief moment.

Cheney’s remarks were nothing more than the same anti-Trump diatribe that has been spilling out of her mouth for months on end.

“Those who invaded our Capitol and battled law enforcement for hours were motivated by what President Trump had told them: that the election was stolen and that he was the rightful president,” she said.

Trump, claimed Cheney, had “summoned the mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame of this attack.”

That was the most dramatic moment of last night’s hearing? Canned accusations that she and committee members have been making since January 7th, 2020?

Last night was their big reveal and they fell flat on their faces.

The Red Wave is coming, Liz, Bennie, Adam … and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.
