Trump Trounces Kamala Harris In New Head-To-Head Poll – Her Ratings At New Lows

Trump Trounces Harris In New Head-To-Head Poll, Her Ratings At New Lows

A new recent survey done by Republican polling firm McLaughlin & Associates shows former President Donald Trump soundly beating current Vice President Kamala Harris in favorability, should she decide to run in 2024.

The survey, done between May 12-18 asked a group of 1000 general election likely voters, their opinions of both Trump and Harris. Of those polled, 47% had a favorable view of Harris, while 48% had an unfavorable opinion. Broken down a bit more, 27% said they had a “very favorable” opinion of Harris compared to 38% who held a “very unfavorable” opinion.

The poll also showed that 82% of Republican primary voters would support Trump to be the Republican nominee should he decide to run in 2024. Of those GOP primary voters, 83% said they would vote for him in the general election.

Media Covering Up Bad Poll Numbers

Bad poll numbers are not new for Vice President Harris. In mid-May, an Economist/YouGov poll showed Harris at 38% favorable and 53% unfavorable. The current crop of bad approval numbers came before the announcement of Harris’ trip to the U.S. southern border last week.

But the media is doing its level best to cover up for Harris’s bad approval ratings. They are finding many other ways of covering the Vice President. At times though, it might get a bit tough for them.

Not wanting to cover a female Vice President the way they might cover a First Lady, speculating on who her favorite designers might be, Harris’ visit to a yarn shop owned by a woman was perfect cover for bad poll numbers for the Washington Post. And they even got a scoop: the Veep is a crocheter.

The Los Angeles Times, not wanting to be outdone, decided to create an entire beat to covering the Vice President, entitled aptly enough, “Covering Kamala Harris.”

Kamala Harris Then And Now

For those who might not remember, Kamala Harris’ run for the White House was short lived. Joe Biden had more appeal to black voters than she did. Many of those voters did not feel that her criticizing of Biden on race issues during a presidential candidate debate was “sincere.”

And her sincerity problem may have spilled over into how well Americans believe she is overseeing the border crisis. Ninety-one days after being named Border Czar, Harris announced she would be heading to El Paso Texas last week. News of the trip came just days before former President Donald Trump is also scheduled to make a visit to the border at the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott. He will be accompanied by a dozen House Republicans.

Critics of Harris brushed off the visit, saying that she was not going to where the real problem areas are. Vice President of the Border Patrol Union Art Del Cueto called Harris’ choice to visit El Paso a, “slap in the face.” He added, “If she really wanted to see what was going on, she would go to the hot zones.” One of those hot zones is the Rio Grande Valley near McAllen Texas, where illegal border crossings are up 230%.

Kamala Harris May Have More Responsibilities

After news broke of Vice President Harris’ trip to the border, Trump issued his own statement that said:

“After months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created—a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies.”

“Harris and Biden were given the strongest border in American history. And now, It is by far the worst in American history. If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!”

Vice President Harris may eventually have more to think about than the border crisis. Of those polled in the McLaughlin poll, 64% said they believe that Kamala Harris will be president before Biden’s 4-year term is up.
