Donald Trump is calling on the Republican senators who voted in favor of the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill to be replaced at the earliest primary opportunity.

The former President called on the GOP to “primary them all” in a post on his Truth Social media platform earlier today.

Trump began by congratulating newly minted Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, before railing on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the other Republicans who voted in favor of the spending bill.

“Great job Kevin!” he said before a quick pivot.

“We must now stop Mitch McConnell … It’s as though he just doesn’t care anymore, he pushes through anything the Democrats want,” added Trump. “The $1.7 TRILLION quickly approved Bill of the week before was HORRIBLE.”

The 2024 presidential candidate noted that had the omnibus been stalled, the issue of spending could have been taken up by a newly “United Republican Congress.”

Trump Calls For Primaries Against Republican Senators

The Political Insider reported previously that the omnibus spending spree was passed within days of Republicans taking control of the House, abdicating the power of the purse for the GOP until September of 2023.

The bill included, among other things, an overhaul of the Electoral Count Act to further cement institutional power, along with nearly $45 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Two of the senators listed above – Blunt and Shelby – have since retired, which at least explains their willingness to sell out their colleagues without concern for ramifications.

Locking arms with Democrats on spending seemed like an intentional attempt at blocking a GOP House with new pro-Trump Representatives from immediately diving in and tightening up the Ukraine First spending spree.

Especially after seeing the recent Speaker fight, which showed true conservatives having more power than expected.

The spending bill vote was also a brutal reminder to voters that when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars, the two political parties in this country, in reality, are on a relatively united front.

Trump Has Been Highly Critical of Spending Bill

This isn’t the first time the former President has been critical of Mitch McConnell and the Republicans’ support of the massive $1.7 trillion spending bill.

When McCarthy was struggling to earn the vote for Speaker, Trump took aim at McConnell and his “RINO allies” for “turmoil” in the Republican Party.

He added that some of the unrest stemmed from the distrust fomented by GOP lawmakers voting in favor of the omnibus spending bill.

The real problem, he explained, are Republicans and their leadership “constantly capitulating to hopeless Joe Biden and the Democrats.”

Trump later insinuated the Democrats must have some compromising information on McConnell following his support for the bill.

“The Marxist Democrats must have something really big on Mitch McConnell in order to get him and some of his friendly ‘Republican’ Senators to pass the horrendous” spending bill, he said.

Trump even offered a nickname – the “ominous” spending bill.

Shortly thereafter, McConnell made a hostage tape joint appearance with President Biden to celebrate “infrastructure” spending.

Trump has described McConnell as an “absolute loser” who has been giving Democrats “everything they want” and pressed the GOP to oust the Republican leader.

Now he wants to see the other 17 senators who helped pass this spending bill ousted as well. It seems 2024 is shaping up to be not just a major battle against the Democrat party, but an explosive fight to see who is the true leader of the GOP going forward.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
