Fox News analyst Trey Gowdy joined the chorus of voices lambasting the congressional testimony of former special counsel Robert Mueller as a disaster for the Democrat party.
The former congressman from South Carolina explained that part of the problem was in laying out expectations that could never be met, much less exceeded.
“I’ve been part of some dud congressional hearings myself,” Gowdy noted. “[Wednesday] was just a disaster.”
“A train wreck. An unmitigated disaster,” he continued. “Expectations always outpace the reality with congressional hearings, but the disparity yesterday was pretty stark.”
Train Wreck
Gowdy is just one of many pundits on both sides of the aisle who felt the Mueller hearing could not have gone any worse for a party that has put every single one of their little eggs into the Russia collusion basket.
Trey Gowdy on Mueller: “The person who learned the most about the Mueller report today was Bob Mueller. … He clearly didn’t write the report which means those under him did which means the issue of bias is all the more important. It was a terrible day if you are a Democrat ” pic.twitter.com/oS9oJt1zEJ

Gowdy went on to joke about Mueller forgetting which President appointed him as U.S. District Attorney for Massachusetts.
“It’s sad. I guess I can understand forgetting who made you the U.S. Attorney,” Gowdy sympathized. “I mean sometimes I forget my kid’s names so, I can get that.”
Stanton: which Pres appointed you?
Mueller: which Senator?
Stanton: which President?
Mueller: oh which President (laughs) I think that was Pres Bush
Stanton: according to my notes that was President Reagan

Train wreck indeed.
A Serious Disaster
All kidding aside, this man – who was in charge of a multi-year investigation into collusion, which Democrats hoped beyond all hope would lead to the takedown of President Trump – couldn’t remember or was unaware of some major aspects about the investigation!
Gowdy was dismayed:
What I don’t get is, you believed your mission was to investigate a foreign adversary’s attempts to undermine our election and you did all that with the Trump campaign. But here you have the DNC actually paying Russians for dirt on Donald Trump and you either don’t know the name of the company that the money was laundered through and you don’t know anything about Nellie Ohr and her husband being in the chain of custody, even though he was a DOJ official… that and struggling to find the word conspiracy, were two of the most troubling parts of yesterday.
In an interview with Fox News last year, the Republican former congressman accurately predicted that the Mueller investigation will find no evidence of Donald Trump’s ‘collusion’ with Russia.
It would “disappoint” the mainstream media according to Gowdy.
So much so that they dragged him in front of Congress and tried to force the narrative out of him, only to have it be a dud, a train wreck, and an unmitigated disaster all over again.
Trump Wins Again
Don’t feel sorry for Mueller though. He is the one, after all, who turned the investigative reins over to a legal team of Democrat donors and Clinton supporters.
“I don’t think anybody in the world thinks Bob Mueller interviewed those witnesses and I don’t think anyone thinks he wrote the report,” Gowdy said.
Mueller was used by the Democrats and they all fell flat on their face when up against Trump. Now they know how Hillary felt.
