A top scientist intricately involved in Iran’s nuclear program has been assassinated, according to local news reports from Iran and Israel.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated in Damavand, east of Tehran.

Reuters reported in 2011 that Fakhrizadeh was “a key figure in suspected Iranian work to develop technology and skills needed for atomic bombs.”

He was sanctioned by the United States in 2008 and his group – the Shahid Karimi group, known by its Farsi acronym SPND – was sanctioned by the Trump administration just last year.

Fakhrizadeh was a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) officer and headed Iran’s nuclear weapons project.

Iran’s revolutionary guards’ commander tweeted that Iran will avenge the killing of scientists as it has in the past.

Netanyahu Said of Iran Nuclear Scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, ‘Remember That Name’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu specifically singled out Mohsen Fakhrizadeh in previous statements as a name to keep in mind.

In a 2018 press conference, Netanyahu revealed that Israel had obtained 100,000 files from Iran’s secret nuclear archives.

“Remember that name, Fakhrizadeh,” he said.

In 2015, when Iran was duping the Obama-Biden administration into a nuclear agreement, they denied the existence of a secret Iranian nuclear program led by Fakhrizadeh.

Netanyahu indicated the documents retrieved by Israel show the program operating between 1999 and 2013 and, as the Jerusalem Post reports, was continued by “a series of organizations,” one of which was the aforementioned SPND.

Surrender to Iran

Earlier this month, Iran President Hassan Rouhani warned that whoever leads America over the next four years must prepare to surrender to the Islamic Republic.

“It is not important who is elected president, as the next US administration will surrender to the Iranian nation,” Rouhani warned.

Such a threat is laughable when you think about the determination and leadership of President Trump.

When you think about how Obama and Biden bent over backward to force through a disastrous nuclear deal while guys like Fakhrizadeh continued to develop Iran’s capabilities, however, it actually becomes a bit worrisome.

Remember, it was Osama Bin Laden who once said, according to declassified documents, that he wanted to assassinate Obama so that the “totally unprepared” Biden would take over as president and plunge the United States “into a crisis.”
