Ted Cruz and Alyssa Milano Plan to Have a ‘Civil’ Gun Control Debate Next Week

Senator Ted Cruz and actress and liberal activist Alyssa Milano plan to have a “civil” debate about gun control next Tuesday.

Milano said Thursday that she and Cruz will have conversation on how to solve America’s gun violence problem, despite the two coming from completely different places. Still, she believes that if they both show “mutual respect and humility,” something positive could come out of he exchange for the country.

The agreement to have a debate comes in the wake of recent mass shootings in Midland, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas.

‘Respect & Humility’

“But if we can talk with mutual respect & humility, maybe all of us come together to effect positive change. I will enter this with an open heart, ears and mind,” Milano tweeted Wednesday. “I hope he does the same.”

Cruz tweeted that he is looking forward to chatting with Milano and that “civil” conversations would help “heal” America.

“I’m looking forward to it! And if all of us can together have more positive, civil discussion & debate on the substantive issues of the day, that would go a long way to helping unite and heal our divided Nation,” Cruz tweeted Wednesday.

Not the First Time Cruz Has Reached Out to the Other Side

Cruz’s forum with Milano is not the first time the Republican senator has reached out to the other side looking for comm ground on important national issues.

The Texas Senator agreed with “Squad” member Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in May about banning members of Congress from lobbying after they leave office.

Ocasio-Cortez said four months ago, “If we can agree on a bill with no partisan snuck-in clauses, no poison pills, etc. – just a straight, clean ban on members of Congress becoming paid lobbyists – then I’ll co-lead the bill with you.”

Cruz and Ocasio-Cortez later got bipartisan backup when Texas Republican Congressman Chip Roy Hawaii Democrat Congressman Brian Schatz said they would back the proposal.

Teaching Alyssa

Earlier this week, Milano tweeted, ““Can someone cite which passage of the Bible God states it is a god-given right to own a gun?”

That’s when Cruz proceeded to give her a thorough lesson.

“An excellent Q, worth considering carefully w/o the snark of Twitter,” Cruz tweeted in response Milano. “It is of course not the right to a modern-day firearm that is God-give[n] but rather the right to Life & the right to Liberty. Essential to that right to life is the right to DEFEND your life & your family.”

And Cruz went on at length from there.

Will Alyssa Milano learn any lessons from Ted Cruz come their debate next Tuesday? Time will tell.
