Illinois State Senator Martin Sandoval (D) was forced to apologize after photos surfaced at a fundraiser showing a mock assassination of President Trump.
WCIA reports that the photos were taken at a political event on Friday night.
They show an individual wearing a Mexican costume and donning an oversized Trump mask. Another supporter of the Democrat lawmaker is seen holding a ‘fake assault weapon’ and pointing it at the President.
The faux Trump then clutches his chest as if he’s been shot, leaning back and then bending forward to simulate the assassination.
Images were posted to social media by a woman who tagged Sandoval. While it’s unclear whether he knew of what the prop gun was used for, Sandoval can be seen in one of the images posing with the man who wielded it.

“Why is this ok? I am sickened,” one woman asks after posting one of the images. “Democrats are so unhinged and so violent, it makes us sick.”

Not Okay
Sandoval, for his part, insisted the incident was not ‘ok’ and offered an apology.
“The incident that took place is unacceptable,” he said. “I don’t condone violence toward the President or anyone else. I apologize that something like this happened at my event.”
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider said the apology was “too little, too late” and insisted that if those involved in the incident are staffers or volunteers, they “should be terminated immediately.”

The Tolerant Left
The left has a rich history of making assassination threats against the President, ranging from educators to lawmakers and on to Hollywood actors.
In 2017, a teacher from Dallas, Texas was put on leave after video surfaced of her imitating a shooting of Trump with a squirt gun and yelling “DIE” while her students looked on in confusion.
That same year, a Missouri state senator posted on social media that “I hope Trump is assassinated.”

And in 2018, Broadway star Carole Cook asked, “Where’s John Wilkes Booth when you need him?”
Pirates of the Carribean star Johnny Depp, disgraced comedienne Kathy Griffin, and has-been musician Madonna have all made their own threats against the President.
With all the talk about President Trump being responsible for inciting violence, perhaps it’s time the intolerant left examine their own words and deeds.
