While Nancy Pelosi was on the House floor sharing a supposedly beautiful moment about her grandson wishing he was Hispanic, President Trump was sharing an actual beautiful story about a 9-year-old name Sophia at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.
Sophia Marie Campa Peters is a young lady who has been battling a rare disease that has stricken her with multiple strokes, leaving her partially paralyzed with an outlook that included the possibility of never being able to walk again.
“At one point, the doctors told Sofia that she would not be able to walk,” Trump told those in attendance. “Sophia replied, ‘If you’re only going to talk about what I can’t do, then I don’t want to hear it. Just let me try to walk.'”
And she did.
The President pointed out that Sophia and her family were “right here in the front row where they should be,” noting that doctors, amazed by her progress, said she clearly had “God on her side.”
At that, the crowd rose to their feet and honored the courageous little girl.

During a press briefing last month, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders made note of Sophia’s story.
Sanders said her explanation for how she was able to walk, defying all of her doctors’ expectations, was slightly different.
“Because I am awesome,” she said.
Her neurosurgeon, however, said, “This little girl has God on our side.”

Sophia’s mom hoped her young daughter’s story could inspire others.
“In a world where things are so bad and ugly, when there is so much loss of faith,” she said, “people needed to hear Sophia’s story so that they could hear a true testament to God’s grace and His glory revealed.”
When the crowd heard her story yesterday, they were truly inspired. What a tremendous testament to this little girl and her family’s faith.
