Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary stunned CNN hosts when he slammed New York Attorney General Letitia James for acting like a third-world autocrat by seeking to seize assets from former President Donald Trump.

O’Leary was responding to reports that James has indicated that if Trump is unable to pay the massive $454 million he owes the state in a civil fraud lawsuit, she will pursue collection efforts.

“If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” James told ABC News.

James added that her office is “prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers, and yes, I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day.”

That is the address of the Trump Building in lower Manhattan.

Kevin O’Leary Slams Letitia James

Kevin O’Leary has described the massive fines levied against Trump in this civil fraud case as “un-American.”

“What developer doesn’t ask for the highest price valued for any building they built?” he told the New York Post. It is a reference to the crux of James’ argument, that Trump overvalued his properties. Which everybody in the real estate business does.

“It’s not healthy for the country,” O’Leary added. “I want this reviewed and appealed and turned over because it’s wrong for everybody that participates.”

“It’s appalling. It’s unjust. I would go as far to say it’s un-American.”

O’Leary went on to call New York a “loser state,” which it undoubtedly is. I can say this as a New Yorker.

But beyond my opinion, go ask residents and legal citizens who struggle to make ends meet while illegal immigrants get paid stipends. Go ask homeowners who lose their homes to squatters, then get arrested trying to remove them. And go ask victims of crime who pay for years while their attackers get to take the streets the next day.

O’Leary: It’s Like Venezuela Or Cuba

Kevin O’Leary further blasted Letitia James in an appearance on CNN, which must have left the host flabbergasted.

“Forget about Trump. Nothing to do with Trump. You think this is good for business in New York? You think this is good for business in America?” he asked.

“To take a law that we use to protect people against buying refrigerators at an overpriced value decades ago, and apply it against an individual and then talk about seizing assets like he was in Venezuela or in Cuba?”

It was at this point that the CNN host tried to interject. But O’Leary wasn’t done.

“This is a very, very, very bad look for a New York, and everybody around the world is watching this,” O’Leary added. “This may be great for the attorney general, but this is not good for America.”

When the guest chimed in that the laws were put in place to protect the marketplace, O’Leary fired back that this trial and ruling were unprecedented.

“There are no half-billion dollar bonds. Never been done before. Never. This law has never been applied,” he explained.

Not About Trump

“Forget about Trump. Nothing to do with Trump. Everything to do with America and the New York brand,” Kevin O’Leary continued.

“I love this state. My children live here. This is a horrible message to everybody around the world watching this. Absolutely horrific.”

James vowed to target Trump before being elected. She promised to prosecute him. And it’s all driven by higher aspirations. Even Andrew Cuomo can probably agree to that since he was also a target of her political dreams.

Trump must come up with a financial guarantee by Monday.
