Conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh provided his listeners with a touching update on his current battle with lung cancer.

Limbaugh told his audience that the fight has moved to a stage where he takes each day one at a time, but that he still feels blessed each of those days to be alive.

“Every day remains a gift,” he said during his Tuesday broadcast. “You know, I wake up every morning, and I thank God that I did.”

Limbaugh explained that he will continue to need an occasional day off for medical reasons or rest going forward.

“But the fact that I’m able to get back here and be with you is a genuine blessing, and I appreciate it and I appreciate your understanding throughout all of this,” the Presidential Medal of Freedom winner reflected.

“As we say, everything’s day-to-day, and especially in the circumstances I find myself in.”

“It’s tough to realize that the days where I do not think I’m under a death sentence are over,” he said during an October radio broadcast.

“Now, we all are, is the point,” he continued.

“We all know that we’re going to die at some point, but when you have a terminal disease diagnosis that has a time frame to it, then that puts a different psychological and even physical awareness to it.”

Trump Awarded Limbaugh The Highest Civilian Honor

Being a conservative entertainer, Rush Limbaugh is consistently a source of controversy, most often due to the liberal media parsing his words or taking them out of context.

Just days ago, Limbaugh said he had observed chatter from online bloggers and noted his belief that the nation is “trending toward secession.”

Leftists went apoplectic immediately, as they are wont to do, accusing him of advocating for a new Civil War.

In reality, the media took quotes from the show out of context to create a narrative they could use to smear Limbaugh.

What Rush was getting at, is that there are a lot of people saying, “there cannot be a peaceful coexistence of two completely different theories of life, theories of government, theories of how we manage our affairs.”

Despite the attacks from the ‘resistance’ crowd, Rush has amassed a career unparalleled in the business culminating earlier this year at the State of the Union address.

“Rush Limbaugh, thank you for your decades of tireless devotion to our country,” President Trump said in awarding Rush the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The medal, the President explained, was “in recognition of all that you have done for our nation, the millions of people a day that you speak to and that you inspire, and all of the incredible work that you have done for charity.”

During that same October broadcast, Limbaugh vowed to “hang around a long time to continue to annoy the left.”
