Rep. Nancy Mace Slams Democrats For Voting Against Holding Investigation U.S. Military Gear Abandoned In Afghanistan

On Tuesday, Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace blasted House Democrats who voted against her amendment to track and retrieve the U.S. military gear left behind in Afghanistan after President Joe Biden’s botched evacuation.

Mace made her comments in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.

Mace To Dems: ‘I Don’t Know How You Vote Against This’

“Every single Democrat on the committee voted against this measure,” Mace told Breitbart News.

“I don’t know how you vote against this,” she added.

Mace’s amendment would have “redirected $25 million from the Government Accountability Office to the Department of Defense Inspector General to aid in ‘tracking and recouping military equipment seized by the Taliban.’”

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Katie Porter, Cori Bush, Jamie Raskin, Ro Khanna, Hank Johnson, and Ayanna Pressley were among the high profile Democrats to block the amendment in the House Oversight Committee.

Mace told Breitbart News, “Thanks to the botched exit from Afghanistan, we effectively gave the Taliban an Air Force, hundreds of thousands of weapons systems, thousands of armored vehicles, thousands of rifles and machine guns, and God knows what else.”

“Today, we have no idea what we left behind and what is now in the hands of the Taliban,” she added.

In a press release, Mace said:

“My amendment would have facilitated any hope we may have of tracking and at least partially recouping these losses and determining the security risk they now represent to our nation.

“Unfortunately, Committee Democrats don’t seem to care. Today, every single Democrat on the House Oversight Committee voted against this measure, even though Inspector Generals across the federal government fall under our committee’s jurisdiction.”

The U.S. left behind billions in American weapons and military equipment.

Trump Slammed Biden’s Botched Afghanistan Exit

Former President Trump said in late August of Biden’s evacuation efforts, “Well, the only thing that surprised me is that everybody knew how absolutely stupid this situation in Afghanistan was, that it should have never ever been this way.”

“Because everybody knows,” Trump told Breitbart News on August 26, five days before the withdrawal deadline. “A child would know, you take the military out last. You get everybody out, then you get all the equipment — you take your $83 billion worth of equipment — then you blow up the bases.”

“And perhaps you stay at, you take a certain area that you may want to keep like Bagram and keep the base Bagram because it’s next to China and Iran,” Trump added.

“It costs billions and billions of dollars to build,” the former president said. “And maybe you keep that for other reasons. But everybody knows that you take your military out last. And they took the military out first.”
