Video from last night’s State of the Union address shows Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), a fervent Trump hater and advocate for illegal immigration, walking out just as chants of ‘USA! USA!’ erupted in the Chamber.
President Trump, in one of the shining moments of his address, referred to the United States Capitol as a “living monument to the American people.”
“Freedom stands tall over one more monument,” Trump said. “This one. This Capitol. This living monument to the American people.”
On the Republican side of the chamber, chants of ‘USA! USA! USA!’ rang out, while the Democrat side remained divided.
“Many Democrats refused to stand and clap alongside Republican colleagues who chanted ‘USA , USA, USA’ at high points during the speech,” the Telegraph reported.
Gutierrez took it a step further, rising from his seat just as the pro-America chants began, walking out as his colleagues patted him on the shoulder.
We have a bipartisan standing ovation — and a lot of “USA!” chants. https://t.co/00Kmhu7ges

Gutierrez later issued a statement in response to the State of the Union speech, in which he sarcastically claimed Trump did a good job in delivering the address.
“Whoever translated it for him from Russian did a good job,” he wrote.

A spokesperson for the Congressman denies his walkout was any form of political protest, instead alleging that Gutierrez was simply fleeing to his safe space known as Univision.
Spox to Luis Gutierrez tells me that the congressman wasn’t protesting when he left the chamber during “USA!” chants: “He was trying to make it to Univision. He watched the last 90 seconds on TV. It was not a protest or anything. He was just trying to get ahead of the crowd.”

The Congressman and his colleagues refused to support any good news that the President offered. Particularly alarming in Gutierrez’s case is the fact that they refused to applaud the news that the “Hispanic American unemployment has also reached the lowest levels in history.”
No surprise. He isn’t concerned about Hispanics. He isn’t concerned about immigrants. He’s concerned about illegals that could fatten up the Democrat voter roles.
In 2014, Gutierrez met with then-President Obama to discuss his unconstitutional amnesty plans and lay out his vision to “get three or four or maybe even five million people” into the Democrat Party through amnesty.
He’s definitely not going to get that under President Trump, who has vowed to put Americans and legal immigrants first.
“My duty… is to defend Americans,” Trump said during his speech. “Because Americans are dreamers too.”
No wonder Gutierrez stomped his feet and walked out.
