Raking In The Green: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Fundraising Numbers Are Staggering

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene raised over $3.2 million in the first quarter of 2021 according to a report by Politico who describes the haul as "staggering" and "eye-popping."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) raised over $3.2 million in the first quarter of 2021 according to Politico, who describes the fundraising haul as “staggering” and “eye-popping.”

A source close to Greene’s campaign revealed that the fundraising sum came from 100,000 individual donors at an average donation of $32.

The report credits Democrats as a key source of her fundraising ability.

“Greene appears to have actually benefited from all the controversies that have consumed her first few months in office,” they disclose.

“She directly fundraised off of Democrats’ decision to kick her off her committees for past incendiary rhetoric and warned her supporters that Democrats are trying to expel her from Congress.”

It doesn’t hurt that she is revered by supporters of former President Donald Trump, either.

Taylor Greene’s Fundraising Dwarfs That Of AOC

The Politico report provides a little backdrop on just how “staggering” the money haul is for Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is a freshman more than a year out from her next election.

“For context,” they write, “Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), then a freshman, raked in $728,000 in the first quarter of 2019.”

Taylor Greene’s fundraising effort is more than four times the amount AOC – the darling of the extreme wing of the Democrat Party – was able to bring in under similar circumstances.

And that is with a vastly more significant social media presence than Greene has.

Marjorie Taylor Greene took to social media to celebrate her fundraising effort and offer her take on why she was able to achieve such a massive haul.

“I stood my ground and never wavered in my belief in #AmericaFirst policies and putting #PeopleOverPolitics!” she wrote. “And I will NEVER back down!”

“As a matter of fact,” she added, “I’m just getting started.”

She’s Going T+o Need Every Penny

Politico notes that while impressive, the fundraising effort by Marjorie Taylor Greene’s campaign will be necessary since Democrats, as well as moderate Republicans, target her in the election.

“While she represents a ruby-red seat, her primary race could become one of the more expensive and closely-watched contests in the nation and she’ll have to run under new lines after redistricting,” they explain.

Politico adds that “Anti-Trump forces are threatening to mobilize against her — including Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), who built a $2.2 million war chest of his own this past quarter.”

We reported on Kinzinger’s PAC back in February, where he singled out Greene and embattled Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.

“Oh, there’s a huge list” of people Kinzinger said he’d be targeting, particularly those with close ties to Trump.

“I mean, look, all you have to do is see people like, of course, Marjorie Taylor Greene. You look at people like Matt Gaetz, who know better,” Kinzinger said. “I think neither of them believes the stuff they ascribe to, they just want fame.”

A Quinnipiac University poll out at that time showed voters believe Greene more exemplifies the Republican Party than the typical moderate RINO.

“The real cancer for the Republican Party is weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully,” Greene said. “This is why we are losing our country.”

Greene now has 3.2 million reasons to suggest she may be on to something.
