Pelosi on Ocasio-Cortez: A Glass of Water Could Have Won Her District

In yet another shot at socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed anything with a ‘D’ next to it could have won her district.

Including a glass of water.

Pelosi, speaking at an event before the London School of Economics and Political Science, praised other Democrat politicians who were able to flip Republican seats in the last election, but downplayed hers and Ocasio-Cortez’ victories as rather easy, if not expected.

“When we won this election, it wasn’t in districts like mine or Alexandria’s,” Pelosi said, explaining that “those are districts that are solidly Democratic.”

She then grabbed the glass of water sitting next to her and said: “This glass of water would win with a ‘D’ next to its name in those districts.”

Which is Smarter? Ocasio-Cortez or a Glass of Water?

To be fair, Ocasio-Cortez’ personality as a bumbling socialist helped carry her in that New York district, despite clearly having the same intellectual capacity as that glass of water.

Pelosi is correct, however. The Democrat’s general election was never in doubt. Her primary win over Rep. Joe Crowley, ousting a powerful Democrat who was viewed as a potential successor as Speaker, is where the real challenge lied.

Crowley erred by dismissing Ocasio-Cortez as the joke she truly is. Recent reports suggest that he had dirt on her and refused to use it during the primary thinking he would look weak challenging a career bartender for any reason.

Since then, the extremist wing of the party has proven to be as intellectually vapid as a glass of water.

She does not know how many chambers of government there are. She couldn’t tell you what’s going on between Israel and Palestine. She thinks Medicare for All could be funded through the savings in having fewer funerals. She said unemployment was low because people are working two jobs.

The GOP at one point created a video comparing her to the fictional character Billy Madison, which may or may not be a step up from a glass of water.

Pelosi Distancing Herself From Ocasio-Cortez

Whatever the reason, Pelosi has been desperately trying to downplay Ocasio-Cortez significance within the party.

She recently scoffed at the leader of the freshman Democrats as having a band of progressives in her corner consisting of “like five people.”

More recently, she mocked Ocasio-Cortez for being a Twitter queen while noting that it’s her role in whipping up votes in Congress that actually counts.

Is Pelosi finally trying to get control of her party from these extremist progressives?
