Newt Gingrich Says Some Members Of January 6 Committee Could Face Jail Time – Cheney, Kinzinger Fire Back

Newt Gingrich asserts that some members of the January 6 committee investigating last year's Capitol riot could be facing jail time if Republicans win back the House.

Newt Gingrich asserts that some members of the January 6 committee investigating last year’s Capitol riot could be facing jail time if Republicans win back the House.

The former House Speaker made the comments during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo over the weekend.

Bartiromo mentioned an op-ed Gingrich had written for Newsweek in which he argued Democrat overreach was going to lead to retaliation by the GOP should they win back the House during the midterm elections.

In it, he mentioned not only President Biden’s blatant racial attacks on his political opponents and the Attorney General’s astonishing pursuit of some parents in America as ‘domestic terrorists,’ but the committee investigating the Capitol riot.

Gingrich insists that investigating the investigators of the select committee isn’t about revenge for them politically, but justice for those the committee is trying to destroy.

“This is about reinforcing the principle that in America, political wolves who viciously destroy their fellow Americans—and violate the rule of law to do so—will not be tolerated,” he said, noting that many Trump supporters targeted by the committee are facing “financial ruin” and “psychological stress.”

Newt Gingrich Slams January 6 Committee

Newt Gingrich expanded on the idea that Republicans need to assert themselves after the midterms and get control of an out-of-control resistance party blurring the lines when it comes to pursuing political opponents.

In fact, he suggested some should be facing jail time themselves for their wild pursuit of the January 6 rioters.

“I think when you have a Republican Congress, this is all going to come crashing down,” Gingrich said. “And the wolves are going to find out that they’re now sheep and they’re the ones who are in fact, I think, face a real risk of jail for the kinds of laws they’re breaking.”

Gingrich added that he views the House select committee as “people who are literally just running over the law” and “pursuing innocent people.”

In his Newsweek column, Gingrich points out that 90 percent of the work of his party must focus on positive efforts for the prosperity and peace of the American people.

But, he adds, “House Republicans owe it to the defense of the Constitution, our freedoms and the integrity of the House” to go after any “agency that has threatened innocent Americans in an effort to censor and destroy those Americans’ political views.”

Cheney, Kinzinger Respond

Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, two Republicans who have recently devoted their lives to worship at the alter of the Capitol riot, naturally took umbrage with Gingrich’s analysis.

“A former Speaker of the House is threatening jail time for members of Congress who are investigating the violent January 6 attack on our Capitol and our Constitution,” she tweeted.

“This is what it looks like when the rule of law unravels.”

No, rule of law unravels when you let leftists burn, pillage and loot major American cities for months on end and do nothing about it but suddenly become Judge Dredd with a handful of rioters when a majority of the protest on January 6 involved peaceful seniors.

Kinzinger, meanwhile, continued his uninterrupted streak of making himself look like the RINO version of AOC – intellectually vapid and having to resort to memes to make an argument.

The soon-to-be-former Republican congressman posted a GIF from the movie Billy Madison in an attempt to capture the attention of the Squad-loving, low-information voter bloc.

Kinzinger is practically verklempt at the thought of being threatened with jail time for the witch hunt he is currently partaking in.

Well, he’s not as riled up as when he declared his service on the committee to be the equivalent of the way Todd Beamer and the passengers of Flight 93 fought back against terrorists on 9/11, but he’s still pretty fired up.

You have to admire Kinzinger’s use of uber-edgy GIFs and tough guy responses to people knowing full-well we all saw him crying like a pre-teen girl who just broke up with her boyfriend at the first Capitol riot hearing.
