Michelle Obama Complains About ‘Exhausting’ Racism From ‘White Folks’ During Time As First Lady

Michelle Obama, in her latest podcast on Spotify, claimed she has “a number of stories” that show white people were racist towards her during her tenure as First Lady.

Mrs. Obama made the claims during a conversation with her ‘girlfriends,’ Denielle Pemberton-Heard, Dr. Sharon Malone, and Kelly Dibble.

Malone kicked off the conversation by alleging that sometimes “people don’t believe you” when discussing racism.

Obama clarifies, “And and when you say people you mean white people,” later adding that those white people “don’t experience this in their lives.”

Michelle Obama’s Examples of Racism

Further along in the conversation, Mrs. Obama cites specific examples of racism she experienced at the hands of white people. And man, are they something.

First up was an incident when she and her husband first entered the White House, in which she, Pemberton, and her two daughters went to get ice cream after a soccer game.

“I had told the Secret Service to stand back, because we were trying to be normal,” Obama claims, and still “a white woman cuts right in front of us to order.”

After Obama supposedly called her out, the woman “didn’t apologize, she never looked me in my eye, she didn’t know it was me.”

“All she saw was a Black person, or a group of Black people, or maybe she didn’t even see that,” she recalled. “Because we were that invisible.”

Really? Really?!

She’s the wife of the first African-American ever elected President of the United States. She’s the first black First Lady. The media has been fawning all over the two of them 24/7 ever since 2007. And some woman who had to have seen the Secret Service in relatively close proximity, didn’t recognize them?

And since when is being cut in line an example of racism? Hasn’t this happened to everybody on the planet at some point in time? I know people whiter than Shaun King and Rachel Dolezal who have been cut in line before.

Michelle Obama Thinks Not Being Recognized is Racist

Obama proceeds to cite another example of how white people were racist towards her during her time in the White House.

“I can tell you a number of stories like that when I’ve been completely incognito, during the eight years in the White House, walking the dogs on the canal, people will come up and pet my dogs but will not look me in the eye. They don’t know it’s me,” she asserted.

“And it’s … what white folks don’t understand, it’s like, that, that is so telling of how white America views people who are not like them,” complained Mrs. Obama. “You know, we don’t exist. And when we do exist we exist as a threat.”

The constant racism, she added, is “exhausting.”

Let me get this straight – She went ‘incognito,’ donned some sort of disguise to escape the White House and made sure nobody noticed her … and when people ignored her, which was the whole point, that meant they were racist?

She turned herself from a famous person into a nobody and was shocked when people didn’t recognize her?

This is, not by a longshot, the first time Michelle has complained about racism. In another instance, she complained about President Trump’s inauguration – not because she was invisible, but because she stood out.

“I had to sit in that audience, one of a handful of people of color, and then listen to [Trump’s] speech,” she moaned.

Which is it? Is being ignored racist, or is standing out racist? It’s not easy keeping track of all the things poor Mrs. Obama thinks is a result of bigotry and not, say, the fact that she’s constantly miserable and complaining about America.

Speaking at a Women’s Foundation of Colorado event in 2020, the former First Lady said the hardest part of her husband’s eight years as president was enduring all the racism.

Mrs. Obama lamented that after “working really hard for this country,” there were still people “who won’t see me for what I am because of my skin color.”

To put all this in context, Michelle Obama is privileged. She is more than that. She is not only one of the most privileged people alive on the planet today. She is one of the most privileged people who has ever lived.

She went to Ivy League schools, and was a millionaire, before she became First Lady of the United States of America. She was, for 8 years, more privileged than all the other seven billion people alive on the planet.

Get a grip, Michelle.
