Melania Trump’s Response to Hurricane Harvey Shamed Michelle Obama in Every Way

Critics of First Lady Melania Trump’s high-heeled shoes need to check themselves and take a look at what Michelle Obama wore after touring damaged areas in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Melania set out to tour the tragic scene in Texas yesterday, boarding Marine One wearing high-heeled shoes. She later changed to tennis shoes after she and the President arrived on site.

The media went into a frenzy over the footwear, because they are what they are – Trump haters.

They seem to have forgotten what former First Lady Michelle Obama was wearing when she traveled with Barack to survey the scene after superstorm Sandy struck the Atlantic Coast in 2012.

One could be forgiven for not remembering, however. Here is a side-by-side comparison of Melania and Michelle in their respective visits to the hurricane damage sites …

What a difference!

That’s not a misprint – Obama’s side is blank for a reason.

What was Michelle Obama doing that was more important than throwing on a pair of shoes – any shoes – and showing support to the victims of Hurricane Sandy?

Via Townhall:

On Monday evening Mitt Romney cancelled all campaign events through today and is even holding a disaster relief event in Ohio to help those who were crushed by Hurricane Sandy last night. President Obama also cancelled campaign events and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said on Air Force one that this “wasn’t a time for politics” and that people should focus on responding to the storm. But, Hurricane Sandy wasn’t going to stop First Lady Michelle Obama from playing politics yesterday. She sent the following email to supporters in North Carolina and Virginia.

At least Melania was out there doing something to show her support for Texas. Michelle Obama was nowhere to be found, putting her stamp on fundraising letters to her husband’s fans instead.

The Obamas have always been more about words than actions. Melania spotlighted that when she sent out a press release about the hurricane damage that really put them to shame:

Seven words just about sum up the contrast between these two First Ladies.

“Not through just words, but also action.”

We know Michelle took no action in regards to Hurricane Sandy. But where else has she tried using words to deal with a terrible situation?

Oh yes, now I remember …

Ah, the famous ‘hashtag diplomacy’ effort.

I might be wrong, but I’m pretty confident this is the kind of passive, juvenile approach to serious situations that America voted against in November.

I’ll take Melania – no matter what shoes she’s wearing – taking action any day over meaningless words and hashtags.

Wouldn’t you?
