It’s almost a truism at this point, nearly axiomatic: If the fake news is upset about something, that something they’re upset about is probably awesome.

If the above tautology didn’t grab you, the media’s tears certainly will. And they’re pouring out like the storm that sent Noah running for his hammer and nails.
On this occasion, it’s once again America’s greatest governor, Ron DeSantis, causing all the boo-boos.
He’s making it harder for illegal aliens to work in the Sunshine State, and this is bad, they tell us.
DeSantis: “You cannot create an economy based on illegality.”

DeSantis Moves on E-Verify
Though he signed the bill to implement E-Verify two weeks ago, Yahoo only got around to their sob story about a man who has been working illegally for 20 years.
20 years. Why hasn’t he gotten citizenship?
At any rate, folks like the guy who worked illegally for 20 years might soon be out of work, depending on where they work:
Starting July 1, businesses with 25 or more employees will be required to use the federal E-Verify system to check the legal status of all new employees.
Businesses would face heavy fines for defying the law and employing undocumented migrants.

Tough luck. In short, E-Verify is a system that checks an individual’s residency status. Businesses use it to make sure they aren’t hiring illegal aliens.
Just to digress for a second here… when’s the last time you saw an article about the poor American worker who has been out of work because, say, their company went overseas or was regulated out of existence?

Much Ado About E-Verify
For those who follow my barely-literate rants here, you can probably guess I’m not a fan of E-Verify. For a simple reason.
America’s businessmen aren’t the border patrol. It’s not their job to be the border patrol, or ICE.

That job is for… well the border patrol and ICE. Instead of putting the onus and possible penalties on Greg who runs a small printing shop in Toledo, how about we just close the border?
(Another interesting side note I wanted share here: closing the border isn’t nearly as difficult as people make it seem. I learned while reading about Wyatt Earp and the O.K. Corral that in 1871, the Mexican Army was able to completely close the Mexico-Arizona border to bandits, Curly Bill’s infamous Cowboys, with a few horses. Now if you think the 1870s mounted Mexican Army can close the border but not the most powerful military in the history of the planet, I don’t know what else to tell you other than I have a bridge for sale in Viet Nam.)
Further, small businesses are typically defined as having 10-50 employees. What kind of outfits do you think have less than 25 employees, and thus not fall under E-Verify?
You guessed right, just the sort of outfits most likely to take advantage of illegal labor. Smaller farms, restaurants, private residences, etc. Back on the topic of that bridge in Viet Nam, do you really think that’s an accident?

Now, all that being said, I’m willing to set aside my curmudgeonly views on this matter for now, because they won’t close the border. And, apparently, people just will not stop voting for the same Republicans who never close the border.
Third, because people will get caught hiring illegal aliens on purpose, and should face some consequences for it.
But maybe most of all, because it makes the fake news and faux-concerned Democrats so darn angry.

Enforce the law. Do not employ illegals.
I remember ( Before Charlie Crisp ) there used to be a law, that in order to work, you have to provide a State Issued ID ( of which to get you needed a Birth certificate showing you were born in the US to get ) and a Social security card ( that again you needed to provide proof of Citizenship ) or a Green card. Why was this law repealed? It was soon after that law disappeared, instead of Migrants coming to the country, helping bring in the Harvests, then they went back across the border, until the next year ( they would get a temporary green card to work the season ) now they come , bring the Families and stay.
