Mayor Bill De Blasio Says Donald Trump Is ‘Betraying’ New York

On CNN Thursday, Mayor Bill de Blasio claimed that Donald Trump was betraying his home city of New York City because the president had not ordered factories to produce medical supplies to supply the expected surge of patients emerging because of the coronavirus pandemic.

De Blasio Blasts Trump

De Blasio said, “I said very clearly that for the month of march we have the supplies that we need. The city has very strong reserves of the kind of supplies that I talked about. It is going into April that I’m worried about.”

“We have to be sober about this,” the mayor continued. “You’re talking about a state of 8.6 million people, thousands new cases in a day. We’ve got to be honest about the sheer extent of this problem and where is the federal government? Where is the military?”

Mayor says NYC is ‘the American front’ in coronavirus war

“Why won’t the president give the order to mobilize our military to guarantee that these products are being produced through the defense production act and get them to the American front in this war which is New York,” de Blasio went on.

He added, “We have been pleading for weeks with the federal government to step in. We’re now by far the epicenter of this crisis here in New York state. What does it take to get some attention? What does it take for our president?”

‘He’s from New York and he’s betraying the city he comes from’

Then the New York mayor really dug the knife in.

“He’s from New York and he’s betraying the city he comes from,” de Blasio said. “All he has to do is order the military to active duty to fight this war, to fight this challenge, this enemy, and he’s not doing it, even though he activated the Defense Production Act not a single factory that I know of has been mandated to go on 24/7 production of ventilators and surgical masks.”

It should be noted that, de Blasio made these remarks as Trump’s approval ratings have gone up with the public regarding how the President is dealing with the coronavirus outbreak.

  1. De Blasio is an embarrassment to the Constitution every time he spews his Communist preferences as if his efforts to install Communism in Central America in the 70’s was somehow successful.
Insanity-trying the same thing and expecting different results

  2. De Blasio you have made a disaster out of NYC it is unsafe to visit NYCity it is dirty , you have done this. Yes you cheered when the President left and the country cheered when you lift the Presidential race, you have made the police dept be disrespected you are one loser Mayor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gov Como gave our president praise and you try to blame the President really you think we are all stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Yep.. That’s the same guy who said “good riddance ” when President Trump moved to Florida.. Now he’s crying like a little baby for his help.. What a pathetic piece of bovine excrement..

Isn’t de Blasio one of those “Americans” who once said republicans/conservatives weren’t even welcome in NY? Say yes, Benedict! But now he’s carping about doing the very thing de Blasio originally said Trump should do – get out of NY’s business? Besides, de Blasio’s wife needs to keep in practice stealing money from the state.

  5. Lol, isn’t it ironic how the anti-military progressives/dems/socialists always want the national guard/military to come help them after they’ve totally screwed everything up.

  6. You want to talk about betrayal NEW YORK.. ??? WHO VOTED FOR AN ARKANSAS TRANSPLANT for PRESIDENT over a real NEW YORKER who actually helped NY??? GTFOOH MAYOR ASSIO …. (yeah I’m yelling and a NY’er) .. NY’ers are the biggest back stabbers I’ve ever seen ..

  7. Ahhhh….DeBlasio….NYC’s illustrious mayor….the same one that is hated by the NYC police. In fact – when he speaks—they turn their backs to him!
What a guy! I’d certainly listen to what garbage he spews….wink-wink

Hey Blasio, it’s not just about New York fool. If you weren’t behind the scenes since day one you wouldn’t have this problem. Do your job and put a little work into it

  9. My question is this. NYC is crying that everyone else is to blame. Our Governor here in Texas and all the mayors got on the ball following what Trump and the head of medical advisers told all of us what we need to do. We are behind all them.
So I guess Mayor De Bloasio needs to stop blaming Our President and Vice President for his sitting on his hands. He really needs to get on the ball and do his job. Humans are in dire need of help. If he can’t do it get someone else as these are Americans and all of us need to stand behind our people.

  10. The President doesn’t MAKE the products, OR deliver them. He has given orders. It’s up to others to carry them out. DeBlamio wants the military in his city? Doesn’t he have a National Guard in New York? YES!!! He does! “New York’s governor announced on Tuesday he is sending national guard troops into a New York City suburb to help tackle what is now believed to be the nation’s biggest cluster of coronavirus cases – one of the most dramatic actions yet to control the spread of the illness in the US.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a “containment” plan for New Rochelle, the city at the center of the coronavirus outbreak in the New York metro area, in what he called a “breathtaking” outbreak that is “a significant issue”. So he should talk to Governor Andrew Cuomo…and stop blaming the President.

Bill de Blasio is the problem. He wants increased regulation, government centered everything, and the antithesis of what our Republic is all about.

  12. Wasn’t it mayor De Blasio who cheered, said good riddance, and we don’t want you in NYC to President Trump when he moved his permanent residence to Florida a few months go.

Did he ask for assistance from governor Cuomo first, who stated that President Trump was going a fantastic job giving them everything they asked for. Is this just mayor De Blasio looking for anyone to blame, and for anyone to bail him out for the mess he has made of NYC while in charge. My 2 cents
