Rep. Mark Meadows: Mueller’s Flynn Memo Is ‘Good News’ For the President

Rep. Mark Meadows believes Robert Mueller’s memo suggesting Michael Flynn receive no jail time represents good news for President Trump.

Meadows appeared with Fox News host Sean Hannity Tuesday night to discuss the memo.

In it, Mueller suggested Flynn receive no prison time due to the former national security adviser’s “substantial assistance” in the ongoing investigation into “Russian collusion.”

“Given the defendant’s substantial assistance and other considerations set forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline range — including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration — is appropriate and warranted,” Mueller stated in a court filing filed on Tuesday.

Rep. Meadows: Mueller memo on Flynn good news for Trump?

Mainstream journalists have been champing at the bit in hopes that the ‘assistance’ mentioned by Mueller means Flynn somehow incriminated President Trump for colluding with the Russians.

Meadows provides a different viewpoint, saying Mueller’s recommendation confirms that there was not, in fact, any collusion, and that Flynn’s cooperation involved other tangential investigations.

“I think it’s good news for President Trump tonight, that this is what it’s come down to,” said Meadows. “Even though they said he substantially cooperated, I think he substantially cooperated to say that there was no collusion and we can look at it with that in mind.”

Meadows’ comments based on the ‘collusion’ section of the memo

Is this simply Meadows finding the silver-lining in the report? Or is there something he’s basing the assessment on? He notes one very important thing – the collusion aspect of the report is the only aspect of the multi-faceted investigation that is not redacted. And that’s where the focus lies.

“I’ve looked at this report, and yes, everybody’s going to focus on what has been redacted,” Meadows said. “But let’s look at what is not (redacted) in there.”

“There is no suggestion that Michael Flynn had anything to do with collusion,” he insisted. “He was with the transition team. He was part of the campaign. And, yet, there’s no mention of collusion.”

That is why he believes the memo supports a conclusion that will ultimately result in no collusion charges for the President or his administration.

Rudy Giuliani agrees with Meadows, slams Mueller team

Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani claims Mueller had to recommend no time in prison because the things Flynn admitted to were comparable to “spitting on the sidewalk.”

He also told Fox News that nothing in the sentencing memo indicated collusion between Trump, his campaign, and Russian officials.

Giuliani went on to eviscerate Mueller and his team, calling them “sick puppies.”

“This whole thing started as an orchestrated attempt to take the president out of office as an insurance policy,” he seethed.

Meadows says ‘wrap it up’

Meadows adds that the Flynn memo is evidence that Mueller has found nothing and needs to wrap up the investigation.

“If this is the best we’ve got coming out of Mueller’s investigation, it is time that he writes the report, closes it out, and let the American people focus on what is important to them,” he demanded.

It is far past time for the witch hunt to end. While Mueller has managed to get a handful of people on process crimes and perjury traps, he has yet to produce an iota of evidence of collusion.
