Who knew – toddlers are apparently more conservative than you’d think.
A new study published by the Association for Psychological Science indicates that children as young as four years old express a dislike, and are even willing to punish, those who freeload off the hard work of others.
Think about that for a moment. Pre-school children understand the concept of hard work and reward better than your average Democrat politician.
“Here, we provide evidence that children as young as 4 years old negatively evaluate and sanction free riders,” the study’s abstract reads. “Our findings demonstrate that from early in life, children both hold and enforce a normative expectation that individuals are intrinsically obligated to contribute to the common good.”

In the study, children between the ages of 4 and 10 were given scenarios in which they had to give up an item to get something better (sacrifice chocolate to get a cake) or work in order to achieve a greater goal (plant seeds to get tomatoes).
All of the children, according to Yale News, “expressed dislike for those who did not contribute and were even willing to give up stickers to punish them.”
Looks like this freeloader won’t be getting stickers any time soon …

He’s the kind of guy who would refuse to give up his chocolates or plant seeds and still expect a government handout.
Then, of course, there were the ever-popular Obama phone lovers.

Under the Obama administration, people who didn’t work got free cell phones. Under the Trump administration, people who work hard received tax cuts. (RELATED: Obama Voters Received Free Cell Phones While Trump Voters Received a Tax Cut).
The researchers do note that if the freeloading children had a seemingly valid excuse, then they’d be more prone to sharing the wealth.
And, they add, the younger children were more strongly opposed to the freeloaders than the 9 or 10-year-olds.
Perhaps that is the start of their becoming wide-eyed, bleeding heart liberals as many middle schools and high school ‘skulls full of mush’ (as Rush Limbaugh might say) are … before they go out into the real world.
As Winston Churchill once supposedly said, “anyone who was not a liberal at 20 years of age had no heart, while anyone who was still a liberal at 40 had no head.”
And at four, if you’re a freeloader you have no stickers.
