Lara Logan Says Trump Obsessed Media Ignores Important Stories

Former CBS News reporter Lara Logan appeared on “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning where she discussed media bias, including her belief that the media ignores some of the important stories in the Middle East.

“What people say to me consistently is that all they hear from most of the media, is about Trump and Russia,” Logan said. “Whether it’s Michael Cohen, you can substitute that for Roger Stone or somebody else,” Logan said.

People Don’t Watch Anymore

Logan continued, “So, what I hear a lot from people all the time is they don’t watch anymore because they’re tired of hearing all of that.”

Logan was a foreign correspondent for CBS News and says a lot of stories concerning other countries or American interests abroad get overlooked.

“As a journalist, what I find frustrating is that to me there’s a big conversation to be had that the U.S. is meeting with the Taliban,” Logan said. “A lot of Afghans and some very senior level ones said that the U.S. is negotiating their surrender.”

“That’s of extraordinary significance,” Logan insisted.

“There’s not a lot of talk about Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan,” Logan said. “Ask people what the war in Iraq looks like today or the war in Syria. … Ask what our objective is.  Who can answer that?”

Logan seems to believe the media should talk more about these stories, and obsess less about President Trump. She said her interactions with Americans in small towns, like the one in which she lives, only reinforces this perception, and that the general public isn’t getting some important news due to neglect from journalists.

Media Rebel

Logan spoke out earlier this month about what she sees as too much liberal bias in the mainstream media.

“The media everywhere is mostly liberal,” Logan said on the Mike Ritland podcast. “Not just in the U.S. But in this country, 85 percent of journalists are registered Democrats. So that’s just a fact, right?”

Logan said she had “paid the price” for being outspoken and that the Left had targeted her for daring to expose media bias.

“They smear you personally. They go after your integrity. They go after your reputation as a person and a professional,” Logan told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“They will stop at nothing,” she added.

Logan is Right About the Need for More Foreign Coverage

While Logan is right to condemn the media for being more concerned with Trump conspiracy theories than foreign affairs, she’s also right for another reason – Americans serving in the military deserve it.

We ask a lot of our brave men and women who go fight in faraway Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries.

Shouldn’t we be informed about what is happening in those countries? Isn’t it the least we can do given the sacrifice our troops make?
