Major backlash broke out on social media on Tuesday after Vice President Kamala Harris’ niece blamed, without evidence, “white men” for Monday’s Colorado shooting before the identity of the suspect was revealed.

Fox News reported on Tuesday that Meena Harris wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted, “Violent white man are the greatest terrorist threat to our country.”

According To Police, Boulder Suspect Is Syrian Man Ahmad Alissa

According to police, the suspect charged with killing ten people at a King Sooper grocery store in Boulder, Colorado has since been identified as Syrian immigrant Ahmad Alissa.

After the first tweet drew so much heat on the vice president’s niece, she apparently deleted it and added a follow up post.

“I deleted a previous tweet about the suspect in the Boulder shooting,” Harris wrote.

She continued, “I made an assumption based on his being taken into custody alive and the fact that the majority of mass shootings in the US are carried out by white men.”

Harris Wasn’t Alone In Blaming “White Men” Before The Facts

Harris by no means was the only person jumping to conclusions to push their narrative before any evidence came out.

Feminist author Amy Siskind tweeted on Monday, “The shooter was taken into custody.”

“In other words it was almost certainly a white man (again),” she assumed. “If he were Black or Brown he would be dead.”

Backlash Against Blaming White Men Without Evidence

The backlash was fierce.

Republican operative Matt Whitlock tweeted, “This is WILD from Kamala Harris’s niece.”

He followed up with another tweet, writing, “This is all really really bad.”

Conservative columnist Drew Holden made an important point.

“Feel like we have a word for rushing to make assumptions about someone accused of a crime based on racial trends in crime?” Holden tweeted.

One user wrote, “Maybe you can do better than assume things about tragic events for RTs? It that too much to ask?”

“Her original tweets (below) were factually wrong and idiotic, but the apology admits everything,” wrote the Free Beacon’s Bret Scher.

Republican operative Jesse Hunt observed, “This clean up tweet is quite the self own.”

Ironically, Harris would later retweet far-left ‘Squad’ member Rep. Ilhan Omar, who – also ironically – claimed that the race of perpetrators is only front and center when they aren’t white.

Which, as we know, is the exact opposite of what happened.

Harris was a high profile part of her aunt’s 2020 campaign. She is a children’s book author who has written books focusing on inspiring young girls.

Now, Meena Harris can add being the author of presumptuous and embarrassing tweets to her resume.
