Republican presidential candidate, Jeb Bush, put liberals in quite a quandary by saying that not only he would have authorized the 2003 invasion of Iraq based on the intelligence at the time, but that Hillary Clinton would have done the same.
During an interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, Bush answered the question of invading Iraq without hesitation.
“I would have,” he flatly replied. “And so would have Hillary Clinton just to remind everybody, and so would have everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got.”
He explained that due to faulty intelligence, it’d be easy to change one’s mind in retrospect, as Democrats who voted for the same war have done time and again. But based on what was known at the time, the call to invade Iraq was the right one.
Bush also said that George W. Bush has admitted mistakes regarding intelligence and a failure to develop a security plan in the years following the start of the Iraq war.
Admitting mistakes is something the left-wing has been unable to do in regards to Iraq; whether it was their initial vote in favor of the war, their disapproval of the surge, or the subsequent mistakes in pulling out of the region, leading to the rise of ISIS.
To his credit, Jeb refused to say what President Bush had done was a mistake.
“Yeah, I mean so for the news flash to the world, if they’re trying to find big space between me and my brother, this may not be one of those.”
