Janice Dean Demands Cuomo Be Held Accountable For COVID Deaths As NY Governor Blames ‘Super-Spreader’ Trump

Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean is demanding accountability for coronavirus deaths in New York from Andrew Cuomo, even as the governor blames President Trump.

Cuomo, in a conference call with reporters, said he holds the President responsible “for every death in New York state from COVID.”

The governor mocked Trump as “patient zero” and the top “super-spreader” of the virus.

“I hold Donald Trump responsible for every death in New York state from Covid, because Trump lied,” Cuomo accused.

“New York state had that big burst because it came from Europe and not China, and they never did a European travel ban because he was lying to the American people,” the Democrat claimed.

“He is the super-spreader that brought the virus to America.”

Cuomo’s Misleading Comments

Cuomo’s comments are incredibly rich. In one breath he calls President Trump a liar, and in another, he flat-out lies.

“It was his lie that said this was nothing to worry about, this was a hoax,” the governor claimed.

Politifact rates this claim, repeated time and again by Democrats, as false.

“This often-repeated statement falsely attributed to President Donald Trump has its roots in a Feb. 28 rally in South Carolina,” they write.

“But it’s a mischaracterization of what he actually said, which was an attack on Democrats’ response to the virus.”

Pretending President Trump didn’t attempt to stop the spread of the virus is misleading as well.

Mount Sinai, who explains China is “where the virus originated,” points to administration efforts to stop the spread.

“The government instituted targeted screening of suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases and a series of successive nation-wide travel restrictions to curtail SARS-CoV-2 introductions into the US from outbreak hotspots in China, Iran, and later mainland European countries to the continental United States.”

“Despite these measures,” they write, the first COVID cases in New York came “from primarily European and United States sources.”

Janice Dean, White House Hammer Cuomo and Demand Accountability

White House spokeswoman Sarah Matthews slammed Cuomo for his comments.

“His revisionist history cannot erase his grossly incompetent decisions or the fact that President Trump took bold, aggressive actions that saved lives in New York and every state across the country,” she asserted.

But his remarks are particularly audacious considering the governor is currently embroiled in a scandal in which he issued an executive order forcing nursing homes to take on patients that had tested positive for coronavirus.

The order prohibited facilities from requiring incoming patients “to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission,” and may have contributed to well over 6,600 deaths in New York.

Cuomo’s tactic in responding to the scandal has been to deny it ever happened.

“It just never happened in New York, where we needed to say to a nursing home, ‘We need you to take this person even though they’re COVID positive,'” he said. “It never happened.”

He even denied there was a directive ordering COVID-positive patients to be taken into nursing homes.

Janice Dean, whose husband’s parents were both victims of COVID-19, and in whom nursing homes played a part, has held Cuomo responsible.

“He will not take any accountability,” she said at a recent rally in Brooklyn.

“And he blames everybody else except the man that signed that executive order.”

When asked who is to blame, Dean has some very clear thoughts.

“This should be one of the biggest stories of this pandemic, of 2020,” she suggested.

“Twenty percent of our lost loved ones are from nursing homes,” continued Dean.

“And, it’s because Governor Cuomo, and several other Governors, by the way, in different states, forced COVID-recovering patients into nursing homes.”

Dean has demanded an “independent bipartisan investigation with subpoena power” and ripped Cuomo for going on a book tour celebrating his response to the pandemic.

“The fact that he is going on every single program and barely gets asked the question about the nursing homes makes our grief worse,” Dean said.

“I am not here because of where I work or who I voted for,” she continued. “I am here to support all of these wonderful people that are now part of my family because we need answers as to what happened and why it happened.”

In August, the Department of Justice announced that they had requested information from New York regarding pandemic-related orders that might have led to the deaths of thousands of seniors in nursing homes.

“This is not political. It’s about accountability,” Dean explained.
