President Trump won’t ever make it to impeachment according to Congresswoman Jackie Speier, instead predicting he will resign.
“I have always thought [that Trump] was never going to fulfill his full term,” said Speier, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “I am more convinced that he will leave before any impeachment would take place.”
Speier was referencing the possibility that the President might pardon family members or would fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Mueller just this week impaneled a grand jury as part of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Not sure why all the hyperventilating re: Russia grand jury. Mueller hired 16 prosecutors. Of course there would be GJ. This will take time.

Speier said those potential acts could lead the House to pursue impeachment.
Donald Trump would resign before Congress is able impeach him, a senior US representative has said, as pressure mounts over his team’s alleged links to Russia.
Jackie Speier, who sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said attempts by the President to pardon members of his family or fire the man appointed to investigate Russian meddling in last year’s presidential election could trigger an impeachment vote.
“I have always thought that he was never going to fulfil (sic) his full term,” she said.
“It is not something that would be happening any time soon but if the President were to act precipitously at any of these situations, pardoning his family members, taking actions to try and get rid of Mr Mueller, I think those would be tipping points and could end up in the House calling for impeachment,” she said.
The Congresswoman though, doesn’t believe it will ever get that far.

Perhaps Speier isn’t the best source for discussing resignations amidst scandal. Especially considering she is tangentially involved in the same scandal that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is currently embroiled in – employing an IT aide recently arrested as he tried to flee the country.
Curious what her thoughts are on Wasserman Schultz, or any other Democrats involved in the scandal, possibly resigning.
