If The White House Is Looking For Disinformation – The Call Is Coming From Inside The House

In the 1979 cult classic “When a Stranger Calls,” the movie’s protagonist – a teenage babysitter keeps receiving increasingly violent and threatening calls from an unknown individual. The movie’s climax occurs when the police inform the babysitter that they have traced the call and that “the call is coming from inside the house.”

Given Press Secretary Jenn Psaki’s comments at the podium this week, this is clearly a classic horror movie scene that no one in the Biden White House has ever seen.

Psaki said that on Thursday that the Biden White House was working with social media giant Facebook to “stop the spread of disinformation” about the COVID-19 vaccine. Psaki’s comments came on the heels of a 22-page document from Biden’s Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, that took aim at what the administration is calling medical disinformation.

In the document Vivek states:

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, health misinformation has sowed confusion, reduced trust in public health measures, and hindered efforts to get Americans vaccinated…. And misinformation hasn’t just harmed our physical health—it has also divided our families, friends, and communities.”

Warning Flags Raised

The Psaki comments and the Vivek document faced immediate criticism from conservatives and from civil libertarians who – rightfully – raised warning flags at the prospect of the government working with social media giants and the media to silence voices of scientists, medical professionals and others who have raised concerns about COVID treatments and the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.

Glenn Greenwald, tweeted a scorching 8 tweet criticism of the Biden administration’s efforts, that called the “union of corporate and state power” one of the “classic hallmarks of fascism.”

What is truly astounding – and rises to Orwellian levels – is that this White House is undertaking this effort even though one of the earliest and most high-level critics of the vaccine is the current Vice President of the United States – Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris Was Previously Critical Of Vaccine

In September 2020, when asked by CNN’s Dana Bash whether she would take the vaccine developed during the Presidency of Donald Trump, Harris responded, that she wasn’t sure and that she “wouldn’t take Trump’s word for it.”

Harris further went on to say, “I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump and it would have to be a credible source of information that talks about the efficacy and the reliability of whatever he’s talking about.”

If that weren’t enough Harris questioned whether scientists and medical professionals would even be a part of the vaccine process in the Trump administration, according to CNN:

“When asked by Bash whether she thought that public health experts and scientists would get the last word on the efficacy of a vaccine, Harris predicted that they will not.

“If past is prologue that they will not, they’ll be muzzled, they’ll be suppressed, they will be sidelined.”

As of today, Kamala Harris has never apologized for these statements, never come forward and told the public that she was wrong for trying to undermine public trust in the vaccine or even admitted that her mistrust in the vaccine was purely political and not about the science at all.

Harris Is Not The Only Who Didn’t Apologize

Harris is far from alone. Indeed, also in September of 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said, in announcing New York state would review all vaccines authorized by the federal government:

“Frankly, I’m not going to trust the federal government’s opinion and I wouldn’t recommend to New Yorkers based on the federal government’s opinion.”

Like Vice President Harris, Cuomo has never apologized for this statement, acknowledged he was wrong or admitted that his opposition was all about Trump and absolutely nothing to do with science or safety.

If the White House was seriously interested in combatting what it calls “medical disinformation” it could start by holding Democratic partisans accountable for what they said about this very vaccine less than a year ago.

The truth is that their criticism of the vaccine last year was purely political and their efforts to co-opt social media to do their bidding on the vaccine this year is equally as political.

Nothing the Democrats have done since the beginning of this pandemic has been about protecting American lives – its always been about accumulating and protecting political power.
