Report: Hillary Aide Huma Abedin Seeking $2 Million for Book Deal

For years, Huma Abedin, wife of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner, has been a close confident of Hillary Clinton, working with her on both the campaign trail and in the State Department.

Throughout the height of the 2016 presidential campaign, the American public learned that Huma’s emails exposed the extent to which Hillary Clinton used her private email server to send and receive classified information.

Well, after Hillary Clinton suffered one of the most embarrassing political defeats in American history, her career in public office is likely over, and her staff is scrambling to figure out what do do next. According to sources, Huma Abedin is asking for $2 million to write a post-2016 campaign book.

Sources have told the “Hollywood Reporter” that the Hillary confidante “has been meeting with top literary agents during the past few weeks to discuss a book that is envisioned as a reflection on how her personal and professional lives collided during the campaign.”

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Days before the 2016 election, the FBI announced that while investigating allegedly illicit text messages from Weiner to a 15-year-old girl, it had unearthed emails related to Clinton’s private server. Any momentum that Clinton carried going into the polls appeared to be wiped out.

Abedin, 40, may forgo a rep and sell directly to a publisher. She’s said to be seeking as much as $2 million for the book, which has received Clinton’s blessing.

Abedin’s appeal is that she’s never given an interview on the incident (though she did appear in the 2016 documentary Weiner, which chronicled a previous sexting scandal). “She’s more interesting than her husband. We know who he is. She’s the ongoing mystery,” says Princeton University presidential historian Julian Zelizer. “But she’ll have to put herself out there. That’s what the publisher will be looking for.”

Since news of Huma’s alleged $2 million book demand surfaced, people on Twitter have mocked the idea that the Clinton aide would ever demand such a large sum of money:

Even if Huma doesn’t get the $2 million she is seeking, does anyone actually think she would write anything that would damage Hillary Clinton? Or, given that Hillary is not president, will Huma actually break her silence and spill the beans on what Hillary is truly like?

If Hillary’s political career is truly over, Huma should have no reason to remain loyal to her former boss, and should want to tell the truth about the 2016 campaign as well as Hillary’s use of a private email server.

What do you think Huma will reveal in her book? Will it truly be a tell-all or will she provide cover for Hillary? Share your thoughts below!
