FBI Releases an Additional 300 pages of Hillary Clinton Investigation Records

Hillary Clinton’s 2017 is off to a rough start. After her embarrassing defeat in the 2016 presidential election, not many people thought that her life could get any worse… but it just did, courtesy of the FBI!

On Sunday night, the agency quietly released nearly 300 pages of records from its ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, making this the 5th release of Clinton records from the agency.

Specifically, this latest release focuses on the “handling of computer hardware collected from Clinton’s lawyers for the investigation and also contains emails from FBI officials discussing the classification of Clinton’s emails.”

From The Daily Caller:

The emails included in the documents are from the months prior to the formal opening of the Clinton email probe, which occurred on July 10, 2015. The exchanges show disagreements between the FBI and State Department over whether some of Clinton’s personal emails should be classified.

In one April 27, 2015 email, an FBI official wrote to other officials that they were “about to get drug into an issue on classification” of Clinton’s emails. The official, whose name is redacted, said that the State Department was “forum shopping,” or seeking a favorable opinion on the classification issue by asking different officials to rate emails as unclassified.

Other email traffic sheds light on a controversy involving State Department under secretary for management Patrick Kennedy and a request he made in 2015 that the FBI reduce its classification of a Clinton email related to the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi.

Clinton investigation notes released by the FBI in October showed that an FBI official said during an interview as part of the email probe that Kennedy asked him and others at the FBI to relax classifications on some emails.

What’s even more shocking is that the FBI confirms that “hostile foreign actors” accessed email accounts that were in direct communication with Mrs. Clinton’s private email server.

From Newsmax:

There are five sets of documents on the FBI site. In the first one, the FBI states that it found “that hostile foreign actors successfully gained access to the personal email accounts of individuals associated with whom Clinton was in regular contact and, in doing so, obtained emails sent to or received by Clinton on her personal account.”

The first set also states that, of 940 e-mails associated with Clinton’s personal account from October 25, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2010, 56 have been identified as currently at the confidential level. Additionally, 302 of the 940 emails identified in the Gmail account were not found in the set of emails produced to the State Department in 2014. One of those 302 emails were classified as secret.

This latest document dump from the FBI reaffirms concerns the American public had over the lack of security associated with Hillary Clinton’s private email server. As of right now it is unclear whether or not President-elect Donald Trump and his administration will push for a continued investigation.

After the election Trump suggested that he would not pursue any further investigation, but several Republican members of Congress, including Congressman Jason Chaffetz, have said the investigation should – and will – continue.

Given the latest revelations released by the FBI, should the investigation into Hillary’s email server continue? Share your thoughts below!
