Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene are hitting the road. The two pro-Trump, outspoken members of Congress are planning a tour across the nation called ‘America First.’

The tour begins on May 7 in the popular retirement community called The Villages in Florida.

For anyone running for statewide office in the Sunshine state, or national office The Villages is a mandatory stop. The hope is that the tour will gin up some grassroots Tea Party-like support and excitement.

The Idea Behind ‘America First’

According to a press release, the idea behind the ‘America First’ rallies is to promote the ideas that won Donald Trump the presidency.

Of the rallies, Gaetz said,

“The issues that motivate us include ending America’s forever-wars, fixing the border Joe Biden broke on day one, prioritizing Americans not illegal migrants, reshoring industries sold to foreign adversaries, ensuring real election integrity, and taking on the threat of the Chinese Communist Party.”

“These issues are bigger than any one election and we remain ready to take our party and our country back.”

Greene recently headlined a rally that drew around 300 people in Florida, where she talked about the 2020 presidential election and said, “No matter how upset you are about the presidential election and no matter what you’re seeing in the news. It’s not over. You want to know why? I’m there. And guess what else? This is bigger. All of you are here.”

Calling Out RINOS

In addition to keeping Trump supporters optimistic, another goal of the ‘America First’ rallies is to call out squishy Republicans; those viewed by conservatives as establishment, go-along-to-get-along members of the GOP.

Of the so-called RINOs that might get a shout-out from the rallies, one of those may very well be Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY). Cheney has been a harsh critic of Trump, and blamed him for the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

Gaetz and Cheney have had words in the past. After Cheney was censured for her vote to impeach Trump for the violence at the Capitol, Gaetz traveled to Wyoming to join residents who, because of her vote, were calling for her censure or removal from office.

Cheney’s office shot back with a tweet that read, “Rep. Gaetz can leave his beauty bag at home. In Wyoming the men don’t wear make up.”

Gaetz has also exchanged words with Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). In February, Kinzinger announced he was starting a PAC aimed at “taking back” the GOP from pro-Trump Republicans.

One of the PAC’S targeted seats was Gaetz. In a tweet, Gaetz response was, “Now, he wants to target my America First politics, referencing me by name. My response: F***ing bring it.”

Gaetz And Greene Not Strangers To Controversy

Both Gaetz and Greene are no strangers to political drama. Back in February, the Democrat-led House voted to strip Greene of her committee assignments for comments she made prior to taking office.

And at the end of March, it was revealed that Gaetz is under federal investigation for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year old girl. The DOJ is investigating Gaetz for allegedly violating sex trafficking laws for traveling with the girl. Gaetz has denied all the allegations and has thus far not been charged with any crimes.

Gaetz and Greene both say they are not “cancelled” and they are not going to be quiet.

During the Obama years, the Tea Party came into existence. Could this be the resurgence that some have looked for with the election of Joe Biden? It will be interesting to see how many dust off their MAGA hats and practice their YMCA dance moves.
