With Election Day now one week away, Americans have been reporting numerous voting irregularities in states across the country. Well, a new report out of Florida confirms that absentee ballots were stolen and forged in one county.
Remember, Florida is an all-important battleground state that could decide the next president. In Seminole County, we have just learned that elections officials received five stolen, and forged absentee ballots.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, a woman named Susan Halperin and her husband were concerned that they hadn’t received their absentee ballots in the mail, and when they called the Supervisor of Elections Office they learned their ballots had fraudulently been cast.
The report notes that the Halperins weren’t the only victims of voter fraud:
Supervisor of Elections Mike Ertel said they were among five voters in three homes in Spring Valley whose absentee ballots were stolen and then fraudulently submitted with votes cast by someone else.
Ertel said he plans to notify law enforcement to press charges after he’s finished with the Nov. 8 election.
“We’re going to ensure that whoever did this will be caught and punished,” Ertel said. “We take this very seriously…I’m not a softy when it comes to election fraud.”
While the couple did receive new ballots, this incident should be very concerning to all Americans. Not everyone is as vigilant or conscious about our electoral system, which makes voter fraud possible. Thankfully these fraudulent ballots were not counted.
