Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are battling for the all-important swing state of Florida. While the two candidates are fighting for the Sunshine State’s Electoral College votes, we have just learned that 2 precinct clerks were fired at Herb Skolnick Center In Pompano Beach after a “disturbance” was reported.
According to ABC 10, the two clerks were fired for failing to adhere to “procedure and policy” but refused to elaborate on what caused the disturbance:
The incident was the first on Election Day in South Florida. Officials in Miami-Dade and Broward counties reported that everything was running smoothly at the polls.
Another incident was reported in Palm Beach County. Jupiter police said Republican supporters were passing out campaign material when a voter got upset.
Other news stations reported that a man and woman exchanged words and got into a fight after the man went inside the polling station to vote before coming outside:
“She’s talking to somebody else and says, ‘That’s little man. Yeah. That’s a little man,’ and a derogatory term that I will won’t repeat on TV,” Tom Garrecht said. Republican supporter Donna Tatlici told reporters that Garrecht charged at her. “(She) sprayed me with pepper spray. At the point I went after her and knocked everything out her hands,” Garrecht said.
Tatlici said Garrecht threw her on the ground and punched her multiple times. Garrecht was not arrested, but said that police will likely charge him with assault.
It is unknown what caused the fight, or if those involved were Republicans or Democrats, but any disturbances at the polls should be taken very seriously!
This is an ongoing situation and we will update you with any information as it comes in.
