Ron DeSantis Says The 'The Crazy People Are the Ones That Are Vaccinated Still Wearing Six Masks’

On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had some fun with folks in blue states who are continuing to wear masks after they have been vaccinated.

The Republican said during a press conference, “The crazy people are the ones that are vaccinated still wearing six masks.”

DeSantis made his comments in Baker County, where he highlighted a $1,000 bonus the state granted public school employees.

“I think they sent, like, one of the corporate media outlets sent some reporter down,” DeSantis explained.

“They were trying to make fun of Baker, going, ‘Oh, these yokels are having kids go to school. How crazy are these people, right?’” the governor added.

DeSantis then said, “The crazy people are the ones that are vaccinated, still wearing six masks in New York City, I mean, to be honest with you.”

At the beginning of the pandemic, many criticized DeSantis for having more relaxed rules during the pandemic than a state like New York, where Gov. Andrew Cuomo had far greater restrictions.

In hindsight, many believe Florida had the more successful policies, in terms of both overall COVID deaths and the amount of harm done to each state’s economy.

On May 3, DeSantis signed two executive orders designed to suspend all coronavirus emergency orders issued by various local governments in Florida.

DeSantis Knocked Forcing School Kids To Wear Masks

On May 4, Florida state Rep. Anthony Sabatini sent a letter to DeSantis asking for an executive order suspending the power of School Boards to mask children.

Sabatini called the policy “cruel and misguided.”

On May 11, after the governor was asked about restrictions for kids returning to school, DeSantis declared that children do not have to be forced to wear a mask.

“These kids do not need to be wearing these masks, OK? I’m sorry, they don’t. We need to be able to let them be kids and let them act normally. And that’s what should be the case in the fall throughout the school year.”

The current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines advise vaccinated people that they do not need to wear a mask indoors or outdoors in normal situations.
