X CEO Elon Musk took a jab at aging punk rockers Green Day after the band altered their lyrics during a New Year’s Eve performance to slam Donald Trump and his supporters.
On Sunday night, the band performed their song “American Idiot” during an appearance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”
That’s right, the one-time rebel rockers are now performing for “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”
During the song, lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong belted out, “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda,” instead of the original line, “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda.”
Green Day has a history of being politically outspoken, expressing particular venom against conservatives.

Musk Mocks Green Day
Musk chimed in to the debate by responding to a post that compared Green Day to the iconic Steve Buscemi “How do you do, fellow kids” meme.
“Green Day goes from raging against the machine to milquetoastedly raging for it,” he quipped.
Others were equally unimpressed with the over-50 “musicians” in eyeliner trying to lecture them about a pro-America agenda.
Numerous X users mocked Green Day for attempting to feign relevance while basically emulating everybody else in the entertainment industry who make more money than their talent dictates and look down on the average American.
“Must be sad, being in your 50s, still trying to act like you’re 24, and hoping that spouting political bullshit that only pleases the corporate establishment can still make you look like a ‘rebel,'” one viewer wrote.
I mean, you have to give them credit: they were performing well past their usual bedtime!

They’ve Been Liberal Shills For A Long Time
It’d be easy to point out that Armstrong is a high school dropout in the state of California, which doesn’t exactly put a premium on high school education in the first place.
But it’s more interesting to note that the song “American Idiot” itself is an anthem in opposition to unnecessary wars (Iraq) driven by the media coverage supporting them.
Today, the “MAGA agenda” that Armstrong is railing against is quite possibly the only political alignment opposed to unnecessary wars across the globe, particularly the funding of wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and they are the only opposition to legacy media.
Billie, there’s some common ground there, bruh. Instead, he simply spouts off liberal media talking points like a good little Democrat shill. Sad!
In a 2016 interview, Armstrong compared Trump to Adolf Hitler which, amongst left-wing circles is considered edgy. Uneducated, but edgy.
“I don’t even know how else to explain it. wish I were over-exaggerating. And sometimes maybe I do over-exaggerate with Bush,” he said. “But with Trump, I just can’t wait ’til he’s gone.”
In other words, Bush was Hitler to Green Day once upon a time, but Trump is really, really Hitler now guys. Wonder who the next Republican president will be compared to. Gonna go out on a limb here and say … Hitler.
Armstrong has particular disdain for Trump supporters who, in his mind, are too stupid and poor to realize what’s good for them.
“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are,” Armstrong said. “I actually feel bad for them because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re just pissed off, and he’s preyed on their anger.”
Has this rube ever looked out at his own crowds? 90% of a Green Day performance involves white, poor, uneducated high school dropouts like him, forking over their money to a band that preys on their anger.
Armstrong didn’t want to be an American idiot. Unfortunately for him, he is the very definition.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
