Don’t poke the bear, Iran. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.

President Trump took to social media late Sunday night and issued a dire warning to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that his country would suffer “consequences” if he continues to threaten the United States.

Rouhani earlier in the day addressed sanctions looming for Iran after Trump pulled out of President Obama’s nuclear deal. (RELATED: President Trump To Withdraw from Iran Deal).

“Mr. Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret,” he warned, later adding that “war with Iran is the mother of all wars.”

“You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests,” Rouhani further taunted.

The President responded in the same manner with which he dealt with an out-of-control North Korean leader – with fire and fury.

In an all-caps message to Iran, Trump promised that should he continue to make threats against America, Rouhani, and his regime will “suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before.”

He then took an ever-so-subtle jab at Barack Obama, reminding the world that we no longer tolerate the ‘death to America’ mantra coming from Iran.

Trump’s message came shortly after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo savaged the Iranian regime as being led by ayatollahs who spread violence and capitalize off the backs of ordinary citizens.

“The level of corruption and wealth among regime leaders shows that Iran is run by something that resembles the mafia more than a government,” Pompeo said.

“These hypocritical holy men have devised all kinds of crooked schemes to become some of the wealthiest men on Earth while their people suffer.”

There is little doubt Democrats will denounce President Trump for trying to start a third world war, something they did when Trump hammered ‘Rocket Man’ Kim Jong-un by responding to his threats with larger threats backed up by the reality of the U.S military. Rather than leading to World War III, Trump’s rhetoric led to peace talks with North Korea.

Prior to pulling out of the nuclear agreement, President Trump blasted the deal as “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.”

“Frankly, that deal is an embarrassment to the United States,” he concluded.

Rouhani has been upset ever since, no longer able to force an American president to roll over to his demands as he did rather easily with Obama.

Obama, as Iranian leaders chanted death to America, negotiated the nuclear agreement and bowed to nearly every whim of America’s adversaries.

He handed them $1.7 billion which was used by the Iranian regime to conduct an “unprecedented military buildup meant to transform the Islamic Republic’s fighting force into an ‘offensive’ juggernaut.”

Worse, many viewed those payments as ransom to secure the release of American hostages.

While the American media will denounce Trump’s comments as inciting war between Iran and the United States, Rouhani’s regime dismissed them as a “passive reaction” to their threats.

The President has promised that Iranian leaders are eventually “going to call me and say ‘let’s make a deal'” when all is said and done.
