Does Gun Control Really Work? Here’s Proof That the Answer Is No

does gun control work

Here’s a simple challenge for our liberal friends – How can you possibly believe gun control is the answer to curbing violence when we have two rock-solid examples of the opposite.

We know from a long and extensive history of school shootings – areas in which signs proclaim the site is a ‘gun-free zone’ – that gun control or gun bans do not work.

If somebody wants to do harm, they will do harm. If somebody wants to illegally use a gun, they will do so.

And if somebody wants to commit violence, well they’ll commit violence – Just ask England and Chicago.

Chicago is often cited by conservatives and Second Amendment supporters as proof positive that gun control does not work. It is a city with some of the strictest gun laws in the country, yet is perpetually plagued by murders and other gun-related crimes.

“I think if you look to Chicago where you had over 4,000 victims of gun-related crimes last year they have the strictest gun laws in the country,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said during a press briefing last year. “That certainly hasn’t helped there.”

“I don’t understand the insanity of those — especially the Democrat legislators in Illinois and in the city of Chicago — who believe that if you have the most comprehensive gun control laws on the books, that that will prevent this gun violence that continues to occur,” Fox News analyst Gianno Caldwell explained.

Likewise in England, nearly all handguns were banned in 1997 with a revision of the Firearms Act. In 2009, 12 years after the strict gun laws were in place, statistics show that England was far and away the most violent country in Europe.

“In the UK, there are 2,034 offenses per 100,000 people,” the Daily Mail reported, “way ahead of second-placed Austria with a rate of 1,677.”

It’s gotten so bad, that liberal politicians in London are – quite seriously – discussing the possibility of ‘knife control‘ due to the rising number of attacks using the weapon.

“There is never a reason to carry a knife,” London mayor Sadiq Khan said. “Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.”

Gun control, it could be argued, actually leads to higher crime rates, and certainly a higher rate of violent crimes. Why? The criminals will still use them, while the average citizen will fall prey without a means of self-defense.
