Florida Governor Ron DeSantis vociferously criticized news of the indictment of former President Donald Trump, calling it “un-American” and insisting Florida would refuse any extradition requests.
As many of our knowledgeable readers already are aware by now, Trump, the current leading Republican candidate for President, has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury investigating the circumstances around hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, has been pursuing Trump on the matter for years, and finally reaped the rewards of his efforts with a stunning 34-count indictment.
Bragg has a record of reducing felonious crimes to misdemeanors and letting criminals roam the streets. The widow of fallen NYPD Detective Jason Rivera, during a heartbreaking eulogy last January, criticized Bragg for what many believe are his ‘soft on crime’ policies.
Yet he found time to aggressively pursue Trump over what amounts to a minor alleged campaign finance violation. Think about that – while cop-killers were actively roaming the streets of New York, Bragg was focused intently on pursuing Trump for low-level infractions.

DeSantis Slams Trump Indictment, Says No Chance Florida Extradites Him
Though they’ve certainly had their disagreements over the last couple of months, Ron DeSantis strongly condemned the indictment of Donald Trump and said his state will not participate in the witch hunt.
“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” he said in a statement. “It is un-American.”
DeSantis noted that Bragg is backed by George Soros and has “consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct.”
Which is what all Democrat DAs do. They are always on the side of criminals, yet willing to go after political opponents with the full force of the law.
And when you realize they’re willing to go after the former President of the United States, think about what they’d be willing to do to you – a conservative or Republican voter.
“Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent,” DeSantis said of Bragg.
“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” he maintains.

Bragg’s Weak Case
Trump is expected to be arraigned next week following the shocking indictment.
His team lashed out at DeSantis last week for comments he made regarding the case, in which the Florida governor suggested his office would stay out of the circus.
Remarking on the ongoing saga, DeSantis teased that he “(does not) know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star.”

As reported by The Political Insider last week, the indictment against Donald Trump already has some glaring problems.
Aside from the fact that nobody else on the planet – NOBODY – would be pursued criminally for a campaign finance violation (go ahead and do research on the wrist slaps or downright refusals to pursue complaints against Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Ilhan Omar for similar violations), Bragg’s case has a key piece of evidence that contradicts everything they are arguing.
A letter surfaced last week specifically claiming Trump never reimbursed his lawyer for hush money to Daniels.
The letter, obtained by the Daily Mail, shows former lawyer Michael Cohen explicitly stating the Republican nominee for President did NOT reimburse him for hush money payments to Daniels.
The outlet refers to the letter as a potential “smoking gun.”
There, in black and white, the letter states: “Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.”

New York State chief judge Sol Wachtler was famously quoted by Tom Wolfe in The Bonfire of the Vanities that “a grand jury would ‘indict a ham sandwich,’ if that’s what you wanted.”
Bragg just got through the easy part in an attempt to enhance his career resume and no doubt with the encouragement of his Democrat peers.
But countering the evidence above will be a different matter.
Fox News previously reported that Bragg was struggling to move forward due to “major dissension” in his office on the matter of an indictment for Trump.
That dissension they wrote was due to the “weakness” of the case.
If it’s too weak to yield results in the criminal case against Trump, the gamble will almost assuredly result in the former President being chosen as the GOP nominee in 2024.
And it just might propel him straight to the White House.
