Liz Cheney, one of two Republicans serving on Nancy Pelosi’s select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, has been elevated to a new role by her Democrat colleagues.

Cheney will serve as vice chairman of the committee.

Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) praised the Wyoming congresswoman for her efforts in serving on the skewed anti-Trump panel.

“Representative Cheney has demonstrated again and again her commitment to getting answers about January 6th, ensuring accountability, and doing whatever it takes to protect democracy for the American people,” beamed Thompson in a statement.

But the statement betrays the true reason behind Cheney’s promotion.

Liz Cheney Celebrates Being Named Vice Chairman Of January 6 Committee

Naming Liz Cheney as vice chairman of the January 6 committee seems little more than a political ploy by the Democrats on the panel.

In fact, a report by The Hill spells out exactly the intent behind Bennie Thompson’s move.

The outlet reveals it is “a move designed to blunt criticism from former President Trump and his GOP loyalists on Capitol Hill that the panel’s probe is purely a partisan exercise.”

Thompson’s statement confirms the ruse.

“Her leadership and insights have shaped the early work of the Select Committee and this appointment underscores the bipartisan nature of this effort,” he said.

The two Republicans are both vehement “Never Trumpers” who both voted to impeach the former President.

Cheney Celebrates Her Promotion

Liz Cheney issued a statement celebrating the cookie she had just been tossed by her Democrat colleagues.

In accepting her new position, Cheney said, “We owe it to the American people to investigate everything that led up to, and transpired on, January 6th.”

She added, “We will not be deterred by threats or attempted obstruction and we will not rest until our task is complete.”

Cheney’s comments appear to be a reference to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) who warned communication companies against sharing “private data,” something the January 6 committee has demanded.

McCarthy said providing that data “would put every American with a phone or computer in the crosshairs of a surveillance state run by Democrat politicians.”

Cheney promised that the select committee would be “conducting a non-partisan, professional, and thorough investigation of all the relevant facts.”

Demanding phone records from members of Congress and Trump’s family shows she is unserious. How could Cheney serve in a ‘non-partisan’ role when she reportedly accused Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) of being responsible for the riot?

“While these maniacs are going through the place, I’m standing in the aisle and he said, ‘We need to get the ladies away from the aisle. Let me help you,'” Cheney reportedly claimed of Jordan according to excerpts from an upcoming book.

“I smacked his hand away and told him, ‘Get away from me. You f***ing did this,'” Cheney continued.

What’s to investigate if you’ve already determined Trump and his supporters are guilty?

And while the Democrats view Cheney as a useful idiot, it’s clear they view the other Republican on the committee, Representative Adam Kinzinger (IL), as a useless idiot.

Adding the ‘R’ next to Kinzinger’s name on the committee not only didn’t get him a vice chairman position like Liz Cheney, but Democrats in Illinois have approved a plan to eliminate the district he currently represents.

McCarthy has referred to the dynamic duo of the ‘insurrection’ investigation as “Pelosi Republicans.”

He has left open the possibility of sanctioning Cheney and Kinzinger for joining the Democrat committee.
