The progressive group “By the People” has put together a pledge to impeach President Donald Trump and Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are the first members of Congress to sign it.
“By the People’ ‘came together because we saw that millions of Americans want the Trump Administration removed from office,” the organization’s “About Us” section reads. “We are committed to ending this administration and creating a country that lives up to its founding ideals.”
Tuesday morning, ABC News’ Ben Seigel reported that Omar and Tliab were the first to sign on to the impeachment effort.

This is Nothing New for Tlaib and Omar
Rep. Tlaib made her mark on national politics in January, when after being sworn into Congress she said, “[W]e’re going to go in there and we’re going to impeach the motherf****r,” obviously referring to President Trump. She made her remarks at a reception hosted by leftist group MoveOn.org.
Tlaib refused to apologize for her profanity and sentiment, saying, “I understand I am a member of Congress. And I don’t want anything that I do or say to distract us. That is the only thing I apologize for, is that it was a distraction.”
Rep. Omar told CNN she believes Trump gets “closer to being impeached” every day. “We know that this president, this administration, every day has gone a little bit closer to being impeached,” Omar said.
Rep.-elect @IlhanMN: “We know that this President, this administration every day has gone a little bit closer to being impeached. … We won’t be having these conversations on whether to do it, but it’s going to be when and how.” https://t.co/GMZo3BvrSB pic.twitter.com/y0jE4n7tU5

Not surprisingly, Democrat and self-described socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in Tlaib and Omar’s corner, even defending Tlaib’s profanity.
“I hit up Rashida. I sent her a text, and I was like, ‘Don’t worry about it. Who cares?’” Ocasio-Cortez said on Showtime. “The double standard in that is (Trump) never gets in trouble for all the booboo words he uses,” Omar added, appearing alongside Ocasio-Cortez.
It’s worth mention that both Tlaib and Omar have been accused of anti-Semitism in recent weeks, and were even rebuked by Democratic leadership.
What comes of this impeachment effort by this leftist group is anyone’s guess, but no one should be surprised that Reps. Tlaib and Omar are leading the pack.
Their agenda has been anti-Trump, through and through, with impeachment at the top of their list. And as Democrats continue to veer further left, don’t be surprised if its most radical members become the face of their party. No doubt, most progressives relish the idea.
Yet, what the average American thinks about a radical party governing the country could be a rude awakening for Democrats in 2020.
