Prominent members of the Democrat Party criticized Florida governor Ron DeSantis for his decision to lower flags to half-staff in honor of conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh.
DeSantis made the announcement this past Friday, referring to Limbaugh as “an absolute legend” and “a great person.”
“Once the date of interment for Rush is announced, we’re going to be lowering the flags to half-staff,” DeSantis said.
“Rush busted through a media landscape in which a handful of media outlets served up pre-cooked, liberal narratives,” he added, noting that the Hall of Fame broadcaster inspired a “loyal army of American patriots.”
CNN was quick to note that Florida’s flag protocol calls for flags to be flown at half-staff “in the event of the death of a present or former official of the Florida State government or the death of a member of the Armed Forces from Florida who dies while serving on active duty.”
Oddly enough, nobody objected when DeSantis ordered flags to half-staff in honor of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who also did not meet those criteria.

Democrats Fume Over DeSantis Honoring Rush Limbaugh With Flags At Half-Staff
The Huffington Post likewise criticized DeSantis for lowering flags to half-staff in honor of Rush Limbaugh stating that it “appear(s) to break the state’s own flag protocol.”
DeSantis ordered flags at half-staff to honor victims of the COVID-19 pandemic in May. The Huffington Post and CNN were silent over protocol for that as well.
The Post also gave a platform to some prominent Democrat politicians to smear Limbaugh just days after his passing.
Gary Farmer, the Democratic minority leader of the Florida state Senate, blasted the move because Limbaugh allegedly “helped drive the hatred and inflame the prejudices against marginalized groups, people of color, women, and anyone who did not look like him.”

Farmer called on DeSantis to rescind the order.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) echoed those sentiments saying, “Rush Limbaugh weaponized his platform to spread racism, xenophobia, and homophobia across the nation.”
She called DeSantis’ order to lower flags to half-staff “an embarrassment to Florida.”

Driving The Left Crazy, Even In Death
Rush Limbaugh had an unusual friendship with legendary singer Elton John, despite their politics being worlds apart.
John performed at Limbaugh’s wedding and has revealed that Limbaugh “sends me the loveliest e-mails.”
“What I get from Rush privately and what I get from Rush publicly are two different things.”
I wonder how many leftists know that Elton John played at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding, and that they had an authentic friendship.?https://t.co/EBxzYhW5Qr

Imagine that – coming together despite our differences. Actual unity.
The fury over DeSantis lowering flags to half-staff in honor of Rush Limbaugh would no doubt make the radio host chuckle with complete joy.
During an October broadcast, deep in the throes of stage IV lung cancer, Limbaugh relished the opportunity to “hang around a long time to continue to annoy the left.”
Somehow, he’s still doing that even after retiring his golden EIB microphone and returning his ‘talent on loan from God’ to its owner.
